Just get rid of GP ffs
Make it golden try if you want the teams to decide the match.
That way penalties won’t directly decide the result
Golden try doesn't address the issue IMO, in fact you could easily make the argument by changing it to golden try penalties will directly decide the result and the "entertainment factor" they are making it out to be about could be even worse, you already see defending sides giving away penalties purposely when in trouble deep in their half, don't think they will be even more inclined to give them away if they know that the opposition can only win scoring a try? Golden point or golden try should only ever be the deciding factor after that 10 minute period is up IMO, much more exciting to see if the opposition that just had been scored against can strike back in that period from an entertainment perspective.
Personally I'd rather see regular match rounds go back to the way it was and should be, even at full time its a draw, both teams awarded a point. It was never a problem in the first place and it brings less risk of additional unnecessary injuries and player burnout.

I reckon it should be golden try but turn it into a 9s game otherwise the game would never end

Hahaha great idea! Then let's put fireworks randomly around the field so if a player steps on them it goes off! More exciting!I reckon it should be golden try but turn it into a 9s game otherwise the game would never end

Get hit by Sua or TPG and it will feel like you've trodden on an IED.Why not put some land mines in some random places on the field, as well?
This is why golden try won't work the way people think it will.
It won't add to the excitement factor, it will ruin it.
Teams will just give away penalties to slow the game down, and then it's not long until the pressure is on the attacking team because they haven't scored, then we'll see forced passes and forced plays which will create more errors because the players are fatigued.
There isn't really anything wrong with the way it is. If they want to change it, scrap golden point.
Either make it a draw after 80 or just change it 10 minute extra time instead of golden point. I find there is excitement factor having to watch a team defend a lead in extra time.
I don't think mistakes are as big a problem as the continuing change of interpretation of the rules. Is it just me, or does the 10 metre offside stretch to 15 m and then sometimes shrink to 8. We see a crackdown of the play-the-ball...except when they decide not to. Gould made a point about the sport not being synchronised swimming during the broncos-tigers game. Its also not Jazz either. Some consistency would allow less overrall penalties and give the players a chance to perform at their best and not have to second-guess the singular tendencies of individual refs. I know there's a effort to do so, but with the constant expectation to be 100% right, they seem to going into the start of a crackdown with good intentions and back off as the media looks to find an excuse to demand their sacking.
No one game should decide who referees. If a mistake happens so be it. I know that is hard to go along with, particularly when the broncos are robbed sometimes. But when a single mistake decides selection it teaches caution, not accuracy. Referees should be scored openly on their performances from game to game. Sure it might lead to a sacking, but the referee should be able to at least see where he is going wrong and how. Grades should be broken down by things like 10 metres, accuracy, foul play etc. with scores adjusted for such.
This very likely happens already, but its the closed-door nature of it that frustrates the fans. Open the door and let us see this. Maybe we will agree, maybe not, but atleast it would give insight and understanding. Those are the two things (along with consistent endeavour) that lead being good at anything.
