This is my frustration....2 years on we arent making headway into the cap.

Boyd is gone next year that's 700k.
Kahu gone - 300ish?

The rest exist.

My fear is any cap space we open up they’ve probably gone into paying through the roof to keep the young players together who are yet to fully develop or achieve anything which will only exacerbate the situation long term.

We are way too top heavy on talented players and not on football smart players or workhorses. I reckon you could count on one hand players who are actually playing to their contract value. We seem to be going all out on talent which is absurd. You can have all the talent in the world but when you don’t have experience, or guys who can put you in a position to utilise your talent, then you see what we saw tonight.

I’m so glad the crowds aren’t there otherwise we would have paid for tickets 2 weeks in a row just to watch the Broncos tackle (or attempt to) for 80 minutes.

Our absolute dismal defence funnily enough has glossed over our attack. Granted we have been on the back foot and starved of possession but even at full strength I struggle to see how we score points as a unit?

Oates is an absolute shadow of the player he has been and with Boyd inside him, it is not going to help his cause at all. Even when Oates was killing it, he had centres inside him who could beat a man and draw the winger in and put him in space. Even if we had peak Oates, there is not a fucking chance in hell that Boyd can get himself into a 2 on 1 situation.

Boyd is done offensively.

Arthurs and Issako aren’t guys who can break the line and beat defenders 1 on 1.

Milford is shot to shit and is regressing big time.

Everytime Croft sets up a try assist with a neat kick we fucking bomb it anyway.

This means our main source of points or attack in the backline with no Bird is Kotoni Staggs. That is it!

We are still back to relying on our forwards and individual efforts to score points even at close to full strength. We only beat Souths because we just passed the ball to Kotoni and he just physically outmuscled his opposition centre for 3 tries.

Agree. I'm struggling to think of a decent centre Oates has played alongside other than Jack Read. Moga was a ballhog and Oates only got chances curtesy of cut out passes from Boyd.

Edit: Forgot Copley. Good in attack but some defensive issues.

Don’t forget about Fifita. Pass him the ball early and he’ll run the length of the field to score. He did it in under 10s

He has also played outside Bird albeit not at his best, think he also played outside Kotoni when Jet was here. Also think he played outside Kahu when Kahu was actually decent

Pies has had 18 months here but I'm sure it's all Bennett's fault Seibold can't use a bench properly, it's probably Demetriou's fault the players can't hold the ball, a deep state WB loyalist is responsible for their being absolutely no cohesion in the team. I can't begin to imagine who'll cop the blame for the piss poor review that we allegedly had after copping an absolute shellacking in the finals last year. Talk about entitlement and arrogance, the back office is a boy's club that let some half baked clown get a five year coaching contract because the media spent a year fawning over him for getting a stacked Souths squad into the top eight. Why would the players feel accountable when the coach and admin so obviously are not?

Oh boy.....yeh its 3-30am and I cant sleep properly because of this.....keep thinking how to fix this mess myself....

I thought about coming on here at a more sensible hour and saying we need to reach out to guys like Webcke, Petro, Campion etc and have them involved in the club; guys who ARE legends cause they earned the right to be called such. Premiership winners who would call out those who try and shortcut themselves to success..

well....if you want to do that you may as well hand the coaching reins over to them as well...

Why aren't the board being held more to account here..? What board member of a NRL club is also part of a commentary team at channel 9? Locky, I love ya but its one OR the other champ....not both...

I actually love the idea of bringing Webcke, Petro, Campion, Hodges, Caroll, DeVere and a bunch of other oldschool players into the fold to first beat the snot out of the entire entitled team, then gently coaching them to greatness.
Its not just poor performances on the field, its the entire stinking culture at the club that seems to have turned bad.
We need some guys in there who wore the broncos strip with pride to come in and just clean house in terms of attitude and what it means to be a Bronco.
Failing that, im only half joking when i say fire all but a couple and rebuild from the ground up.
