POST GAME Round 5 - Broncos vs Tigers

Sad thing is I thought the effort was pretty good. They just weren’t/aren’t up to it. I think that’ll be a regular occurrence this year. I mean they were 1 and 3 before tonight, and the only changes were to bring in two 20 yo kids. Tough year coming up.

they had a chance to win the game the previous set but ended up looking like the keystone bloody cops ... actually on second thoughts, that's an insult to the keystone cops ... they looked more like a monkey fucking a football

So we ignore 77 minutes of play for that? We all know this spine does not posses the footballing maturity/ smarts too execute that play, its why this weeks hot talking tops were on who gets cut from the spine.

Fair being fair though Kodi & Milf both played well tonight I think, that set in which we tried to execute a field goal has been a problem since 2015 but nothing has been done about it. If i had to make a call, if Milf is on the money being reported, it's his play to make though.

It's an absolute salary cap clusterfuck when you look at the spine, good luck to the people who have to sort it out, bad luck for us fans?

Nope. We dont have the players in the key positions to add that polish. Against the drags we fucked up a field goal attempt due to shit service and tonight we **** up a full set starting at halfway because our halves and hooker have nfi.

That's not polish. Like I said, you can say everythingisfine.jpg but you're the only one on that bandwagon. Just about everyone can see the problems bar you, you're not a visionary.

Tends to happen when you're down on confidence due to constantly putting yourselves under pressure.

The Dragons game, it didn't go our way because Isaako didn't hit it cleanly. He had a clear shot at field goal, he didn't hit it right. It happens. Sometimes you hit them sweetly, sometimes you don't.

Another very average performance. Top four hopes are looking slim now even though it's still early in the season. Hopefully this is yet another wake up call and will trigger some changes to the under performing members because it's starting to become embarrassing given how good the roster looks on paper.

One of the most common excuses for Hunt, Milford & Nikorima over the last 4 years has been "Lack of go forward" or "Not being on the front foot"

We can pretty much dispel that one this year.

Haas - 170 metres
Ofahengaue - 150 metres
Lodge - 150 metres
Isaako - 130 metres
Oates - 130 metres
Boyd - 120 metres
Staggs - 110 metres
Bird - 100 metres
Fifita - 100 metres

You're not going to get much better field position and go forward than we got tonight, and the spine still couldn't ice it.

So, after getting home from the game and watching the presser just now, I can only laugh more than I was laughing during the game as we bombed tries and ran around aimlessly.

Siebs seemed to think the boys 'backed and stood up for one another tonight'. I couldn't disagree more.

All 3 of their tries had signs of players not digging in for each other all over them. 2 tries from kicks to Isaako wing, with bat backs and offloads for simple tries. Nobody on the inside putting in the effort to get there just in case. That's not having each others back, that's leaving your winger who is struggling high and dry.

Then there final try, there's 5 blokes standing there watching him dance cross field waiting for other blokes to tackle him and nobody does.. That's not playing for each other.

Also mentioned Darius being courageous and inspirational to the young blokes as captain...i must have been watching a different game somehow.

He said Milford is our general in charge of getting us around the field and he should have been getting the ball in that horrendous set late in the game. So why the f*ck did Macca have so much trouble passing him the ball?

Only other thing I can be bothered to add is that Carrigan needed to play more minutes.

My question is where did the last minute of the game go, the try was scored with a minute left to play. Surely we don't lose that minute
They didn't stop the clock at any point after the try was scored. I was yelling at the referees. Anyone know the ruling on this?

They have an allocated time to kick the ball where the clock continues to run.

Pretty sure full time was within a minute of them scoring or him lining up anyway.

I think the rule changed to have the clock stopped between the conversion and kick-off, but the kicker can still use up a certain amount of time when taking the kick. I remember when they brought it in, we got a penalty with 20 seconds left whilst down by 7 and Hodges wanted to take the 2. I'd kill for someone with his presence of mind right now.

It was around 1:40 to go.
1:10.

Milford needs to spend a week running straight at Bird and tackling Hass with his shoulders.

Afraid to run, afraid to get tackled, afraid to make a tackle.

A total lack of depth

Well then he should go out and find some. It’s a disgrace we have precisely one ‘hooker’ in the club on top of one NRL quality half (barely) and every other possible option cannot even be considered...

Have the retention and recruitment committee gone mad? Is it entirely impossible that McC and / or Knik might get injured and may need cover?

Yet our ‘cover’ is apparently so ordinary they cannot even be mentioned within the same breath as our pair of bog average starters?

This is how you manage a squad of NRL players is it?

Kodi to hooker he can be our cook...Macca is running this team into the ground he’s the dumbest game reader at 9 I’ve ever seen.

This........people carrying on about Milford? Its this dumb **** we have at dummy half that ***** the team.

Give Milford any other no.9 in the comp and he'll come alive.

McCullough simply has to go.

Cheers for the shout about AB, @Fozz

Hopefully he goes better in silver and black than any Bronco is doing right now.

I'm sure he will ... but we have to remember he didn't come to the club until the pre-season had already begun. Bennett was the one who assembled this squad.

to his credit, he has done well getting us ready for the future, we have a very talent group of young forwards and a couple of excellent halves prospects ... unfortunately, he forgot about the short term for the spine. we need somebody that is capable of leading this team around the field, while we get the likes of Dearden, T.Boyd, Paix etc ready for for the NRL.

Left-field thinking, could SOS play 9? This side is desperate for anyone other than Macca and KNik has been playing the far better of the halves.
