PRE-GAME Round 5 - Rabbitohs vs Broncos

I think Issako has been ok without been outstanding. Yes he stuffed that kick up but he did put a nice one in last week or the week before to force a drop out. My biggest issue with him is he NEVER beats that first defender in a staggered defensive line. You see most fullbacks against us beat the first defender and get the quick play the ball which gets their sets to a good start. Issako gets met front on and put on his back on every kick return.

Agree Carigans suspension could be a blessing in disguise. Mr reliable has suddenly turned into Mr shaky in defence and poor ball control. Delayed onset of second year syndrome maybe? I would love to see Asiata fill the lock position i think he's got alot to offer the side.

Also think Glenn needs a bomb put under him. He's just not doing what a captain should be doing and really offers very little on that edge.

I'd like to see some more mongrel into this games performance. Start to take this shit personally. Recognise that when points are scored against us we are the laughing stock of the competition because one try turns to three. The teams focus must turn to the opposition not making it in our half after points. Two good sets after the opposition scores and suddenly you're back in the arm wrestle.

Farnworth or Mead should be given a shot at FB. Cant be worse then what we get from Isaako.

Team I wanna see run out this week

1. Isaako - Through absolutely no other options.
2. Oates
3. Mead - Niu will be torn apart
4. Herbie
5. Coates
6. Croft
7. Dearden
8. Lodge
9. Turpin
10. Haas
11. TPJ
12. Riki
13. Bullemor

14. Asiata
15. Flegler
16. Glenn
17. Teo

I'd also consider putting Riki or Glenn in the centres, and giving Mead a crack at 1, he has done it to an average level in the past. Hopefully Arthars starts putting good games together at 1 in ISC.

I'd like to see how Farnworth would go at fullback. Other than that it's really just shuffling players around who aren't up to it and won't make much difference.
I would too but throwing these young guys into situations like this is scarring them. Outside of freakish talent and maturity (eg haas) they need to learn their trades in QLD cup. I Even think they'd still benefit from it.

couple of tweaks needed to the pack IMO.

Firstly i'd start TPJ at prop.
secondly i'd start Asiata at lock.

Carrigan out this week suspended, when he returns he should be on the bench.

I'd also be tempted to start Haas on the bench. it should be explained to him that this is NOT a demotion, but a tactical move. how much harder is it going to be for tired defenders to tackle a fresh Haas. bring him on after about 20-25 mins

I just think TPJ offers us so much more when he starts. how we used nhim in the first 3 weeks is how we should continue to use him. that was working

I like TPJ in the front row and Asiata at lock. I’d start with Haas as normal, but actually just rotate him as he should be rotated at the 20-25 minute mark like every other prop.

Lodge and Kennedy on the bench, along with Te’o and Croft at 14.

1. Isaako
2. Mead.
3. Farnsworth.
4. Niu.
5. Coates.
6. Milford.
7. Dearden.
8. Haas.
9. Turpin.
10. TPJ.
11. Glenn.
12. Riki.
13. Asiata.

14. Croft.
15. Lodge.
16. Kennedy.
17. Te’o.

Until Staggs and Carrigan come back that’s the best we have, IMHO.

Until we fix this, we are going to get flogged by all the better sides.

Flat defence

They will go through us and around us, exactly as the Storm did. I mean, letting a wrecking ball like Olam get a free 10-15m windup? No wonder a flat footed Carrigan (and TPJ) missed him. It doesn't matter who plays where, our issues are first and foremost structural, both in attack and fundamentally, in defence. With our 6 year old, outdated defensive line strategy (ugh!) the Rabbits will slaughter us.

Walters has certainly improved our edge defence, although Coates is still wandering in, and Mead went MIA v Storm. I am starting to get disappointed in our saviour. This is basic new rules football 101 - speed wins, period, in EVERY aspect of the game.

Rabbits by 40 (I predicted Storm by 40 - not far off)

I just want more ball control, more impact from Turpin and some hard runs from the forwards..

Carrigan has pleaded guilty. One week suspension.

Cody Walker and Keaon Koloamatangi have both also plead guilty and are out this weekend
