PRE-GAME Round 6 - Raiders vs Broncos

I'm probably going to get roasted for this but IMO, I don't rate Lodge as highly as most people on here.

Why?

It's mostly to do with his defense and his penalty rate. Lodge can tackle but he also arm grabs and misses alot of tackles. Facts. Check the stats. He needs to be much better especially since he's defending up the middle.

He's terribly slow at marker. He'll make a tackle, kinda fall off the tackle and this allows the player with the ball a chance did a quick play the ball. Once the quick play the ball is happening, he's barely square at marker and he's offside. He's slow laterally. Same goes for Offa but lodge is worse IMO.

Lodge can bend the line and get a semi quick play the ball, but he's not useful at much else. He gives away too many penalties, not to mention drops balls he honestly should be catching.

I like lodge and I'm happy he's got his life sorted off the field, but i just don't think he's all that on the footy field. We need mobile towards who can maneuver quick at the ruck (blair, mcguire etc) and who can defend well. The raiders will expose our slow ruck defense and eat us for breakfast if we don't get this sorted.

Agreed, Lodge has made some dumb ass plays this year. Who the hell in our squad hasn't!

Fair enough man lol I know my opinion isn't a popular one but it's how i see it.

Also, lodge isn't the only one doing what i said, mosy of our team has been horrible so I'm not singling lodge out but from what i see, lodge does all this too often.

Don't forget in consecutive weeks before that too...with Knights (13) and Cowboys (15) errors practically giving Canberra territory at will. Any defense would look good under these circumstances as they are not faced with any pressure or fatigue.

The one team they have played so far in 2019 from last season's top 8, Melbourne, put them to the sword easily and with a similar focus, intensity and disciplined performance we will do the same.

Our season is on the line here I expect the players to deliver.

I wonder which player had the fastest Play the ball against the tigers?
 
Yeah, absolutely.
Our basic skills, ball handling, tackling, communication, setting up a field goal. Setting up a field goal FFS! Tackling FFS! Holding the fucking ball FOR **** SAKE!! Have all been unacceptable & have cost us games.

Seibolds main 'mantra' has been about the "effort areas"
I'm seeing the effort! [(Honestly think most of the boys are fucking up because they're trying too hard)our captain included]

I have no doubt that if we can follow Seibs game plan & get the simple things right, we can beat any team in the competition.

Here's hoping this week we start to see what the Broncos are capable of.

You have to understand, it's not JUST about getting a quick play the ball. Defense, not missing tackles, no ineffective tackles, being able to move quick laterally, standing square at marker, being faster etc.
 
Ball control.......we have to stop the handling errors, Isaako killed us against the Dragons particularly with the the drop ball on the try line to win the game and then Bird last week butchered two tries.

We need to stop making it easy for the opposition and then take our chances.
