Round 6 - Titans v Broncos - Pre-Match Discussion

Game 2 2012 - If ever you want to see the worst of 'Griffin-Ball' I recommend this game. I went back to this game not that long ago and it was basically all there. Pedestrian offence, nothing last tackle options, poor interchanges...it was a shocker. I remember this came off of this really absorbing contest against the Warriors and it just seemed like a flat performance, sadly, it was an indication of the rest of the season for us.

I went to that game too and couldn't believe how horrific our attack was lol, Titans fans were going off at a four point win against us at our worst, bless their hearts.

Foordy - That's right mate. I remember a lot was made out about how the Broncos were treated like the away team on their own home ground including being in the away locker room and all that hubbub. However, my memory of that game has really grown foggy and I really wish I could go back and watch some of these 2007 games, even if it was at that point, one of the most frustrating seasons as a supporter.

vertigo - :laugh: Typical Titans. That was a dire game all-round, the Titans really should have won that game by more but in the end, their points had an element of luck involved. Their first try came off a clear forward pass from Zillman to Reed while their 8 point try was sheer bad luck from Hoffman who was aiming for the ball.

I agree, Pete. 2007 promised so much but we were never really found a rhythm. We definitely under achieved with the side we had. During the 2005 - 2009 era I think we had the side to win more than one comp. I know we had a lot of injuries that year but it doesn't explain the poor start to the year. A real missed opportunity.

2007 was one tough year in general. Had a poor start to the year found some form than Darren Lockyer, Brent Tate, Kharmichael Hunt and Shaun Berrigan went down and we basically fielded a makeshift team in the final rounds. Scraped into the finals in 8th spot and got creamed by Melbourne 40-0 in the first week of the finals.

Was a battering year and ended with a battering exit

My tips for success:

1. Through the middle before you go wide;

2. Our backrow is better than theirs, use it;

3. Belt Kelly, he's a whinger;

4. Stir Bird, he's worth a heep of penalties; and

5. Stand deep in attack and get off the line in defence.

I'll add to that list:

6. Don't give away silly penalties - especially if the Titans are deep in their half on the last tackle. Discipline, fellas.

7. Avoid passing to Reed, if you can help it.

8. If we're on the attack and it doesn't look promising, go for a repeat set and sustained pressure rather than be caught with it or throw a useless pass or put up a meaningless cross kick.

Only a few hours until kick off! Go the Broncos!!

Can we also add moving up in defence and not tackling like pussies!

Have pretty fond memories of that season personally because the only game I managed to get to that year was the 176-4 win against Newcastle ... :laugh:
