Incoming tinfoil hat time. It’s time to go crazy.

V’Landys wouldn’t allow it. When the broadcast rights were renegotiated in Covid it was on a cut price rate. A lot of the negativity in commentary was cut during games.

It’s a working theory I have and it may just coincide with some of the cranky old crowd (Gus, Rabs etc) stepping back from commentary duties, but in game criticism has been dialled down.

Criticism of penalty counts, six agains, sin binnings (after the fact) - they’re mostly relegated to the post game, the Sunday Footy Show etc - they’re still there. But it’s where the rusted on die hards will watch and not the impressionable, casual fan.

Part of the appeal from the NRLs perspective on six agains is that it eliminates in game accountability and criticism of refs. There is A) too many and B ) not enough time to analyse them. I have a feeling the NRL has pushed this agenda with the broadcasters too as a means of selling the game and maintaining positivity.
 
Ever notice sometimes when a try is scored off a forward pass the only replay they will give you is from behind the posts so it can’t be judged? I don’t think there’s some huge conspiracy but they do try to sweep their ****ups under the carpet.
 
That's not conspiracy. That is exactly what's happening. Coaches suddenly getting fined for criticising the decisions and speaking out. Commentators going eerily quiet and even shutting each other up. Clearly a mandate from above. Shape up or ship out. But without criticism, we lose necessary accountability.

Happened once or twice in the tigers game, one occasion the commentators said Luai was offside and he got within the 10 on the chase but they never showed a replay from that angle again.
Whether he was actually on or off, I never bothered to look back but would of been nice to see a replay to confirm as a try was scored from it.

It’s all about the tendons being pulled the wrong way when you do any form of exercise without first warming up and loosening the calf muscles. The sandals make you use your toes for grip which in turn pushes the arches up thus relieving the tendons that start at your heel and spread out towards your arches.

I still wear them every couple of days or so and they're the best footwear I’ve ever spent cash on.

They could do a bit more for us than 'RUCK INFRINGEMENT'. How hard would it be to tell us what the 6 again was actually for and who the offending party was? Plenty of room on the screen for that.

Or would that be too much accountability?

Sometimes you can hear it from the ref on the telecast or know from context if he’s calling players out as offside, but the bigger problem is they seem to be arbitrarily applied.

Although there have been occasions where it seems like NRL.com just takes a guess.

I don't like that we've gone back to 2020/21 and still don't understand why that change was brought. Otherwise it just comes down to the officiating and the way they manage games.
 
Complicating it a bit but I hate how teams give away a 6 again on play 1 knowing if they get some control in the ruck, it enhances their chances of defending the set, maybe the ref should use some discretion and blow a good old fashioned penalty

Absolutely hilarious we kept getting pinged for "inside 10m" when Tigers were living offside half the game, that set where poor Jesse got hammered on the goal line was beyond ridiculous for one example. Again, it's not the ones given I have an issue with necessarily, it's the other 50 in the game which could be blown but aren't.

If it's not worth a proper penalty, it shouldn't be worth a 6 again - and it most certainly shouldn't be arbitrary and only given whenever it suits the man in the middle to manage the games. Because that's then a slippery slope - if it's not equal, and we know it's not and neither is the draw, then why even bother with the facade of equality with a salary cap (which PNG is now going to remove anyway)? It makes a mockery of the entire game.
