Can’t wait for the fireworks. Fifita will have an axe to grind against his former club. The media is fuelling the flames by quoting Karl Morris saying Fifita is overpaid and only worth $800k. I’m expecting the game to be a competitive battle.

Then the media says he was a steal at 1.2m

I don't care who you are, unless you're doing it every single week and carrying your team across the line, you're not a 1.2m player. He needs to be more involved when the Titans aren't on top for mine to be considered a steal at 1.2m

800k is probably fair enough for an edge forward, although there's no doubting how good he is, I just don't think edge forwards should be demanding 1.2m

It's just rehashing the same quotes he made when we played titans in Rd 2.

Dont get me wrong, i dont think they will be better captains, i just think they are more suitable at this moment in time.

I would just love to see the circus of making TPJ captain it would be his best ever game and his longest ever suspension.

I think a real indicator for our performance will be TPJ and Gamble (in defence).

I'm not expecting Gamble to provide a sudden spark to our attack, but I think he doesn't mind getting in and doing some defence.

If he and TPJ are racing out of the line to put shots on Fifita then I think it will be a good sign of our attitude coming into the game.

I expect Fifita to get at least 1 try tonight, but the hope would be that he gets it after he's been getting bashed by TPJ and Gamble everytime he gets it.

We have been performing better at home this year, but this week may have been pretty exhausting for the playing group with Dearden moving on, Croft and Dearden being dropped, Milf and Gamble coming in, constant speculation about halves we may or may not be chasing, speculation about half the squad being moved on, etc... and all that coming on the back of playing the top 4 teams in a row.

It's been exhausting for me reading it, so I couldn't imagine how it must be living in it.

I'd worry they may come out a little deflated after getting to the end of playing every top 4 team and seeing a relatively "easier" part of the draw coming up with titans, cows and manly.

However if we can stay in the wrestle and show some good intent in defence and good ball security then we are a chance.

I'd still have titans ahead only because they have more fire power than us...

If we play with intent I think we need 24 pts or so to beat them... so maybe we can jag a few lucky tries and get some 50/50 calls for once then we might sneak home.

If the media was honest they would point out how ludicrous our draw is for a team who won the spoon last year. Put our two draws beside each other and be objectively honest, their start is not impressive at all. Until Dave is making them win games, and holds the trophy over his head he ain't worth 1.2m .

That's my logic. Obviously, the Titans without Fifita, and the other two because they're close. The thing about Fifita is he doesn't rely on the halves to set him up. His tries are usually solo efforts. So even with Milford and Croft, he'd still be carving them up. Unfortunately none of our remaining forwards seem able to replicate that. Maybe TPJ.

Individually he is great and I am not doubting that. But if he was a match winner they would have beat Souths and have more W on the board. It's a team game, when he plaid for us the media called our footy the pass it to Fafita game plan. It got us into the 8 but that is it. Look at the draw mate, they play the top 4's once, we play all the top 8 twice and the bottom end once. If your paying 1.2m you want your win rate to be better then 40 odd %.

Looking ahead, including tonight, we have 9 games until the bye in Round 17.

I think if we can manage three wins and end up on 4 at the bye, we'll be doing ok. The good thing is we play a fair amount of teams within a win or two of us in that time, downside is if we don't beat them it's puts an almost unassailable buffer between us and them.

Games vs Cows, Manly (maybe), Dragons and Sharks are going to be key, perhaps even tonight if things go our way. Like I said in the SC thread, we play those teams but then a week later have a Storm, Roosters, Rabbits or Penrith game - gives us no chance to get on any roll if we happen to jag a win.

Our post-bye run home isn't that bad: Wests (h), Penrith (a), Cows (h), Knights (a), Roosters (h), Warriors (h), Sharks (a), Knights (h)
