POST GAME [Round 9, 2026] - Broncos vs Roosters

The footage of Carrigan's jaw rattling is brutal.
It's clear as mud that's a 2 week suspension minimum, the same as Patty just came back from.
Since when has accidental been an official excuse?
Broncos should have been fronting the media asking why Patty's wasn't accidental and clearly showing the 3 infringements in a row and demanding some accountability.
A suspension doesn't help us, but the 10 mins sin bin, and the follow up in second half definitely would have.
It can't just be incompetence that the ref doesn't know the rules and MRC write their own interpretations week to week.
But competence and NSWRL are rarely synonymous.

Reece is about the only one in the team that does it, because he watches football and realises that every team does it... but are you going to sit there and tell me that the bunker still rules that a penalty if Walsh walks away??
Reyno could in Timbuctoo and he'd still play for the obstruction.

I don't blame them it's smart but we can't sit on our high horses either.

That's just defence of obstruction plays... I thought we were talking specifically about lying down for high shots, hip drops, crushers, hit after passing, hit after kicking, etc.

he couldn't even convince the incompetent, corrupt refs to award that one, lol
Notorious milker. Wait, is that even a word?

Ricky Gervais Lol GIF

It's in the same wheelhouse. Everytime he plays for it he's taking a dive and isn't genuinely attempting his best in the play - because he knows the dive is more valuable.

Not a knock on Reyno, sometimes it seems like the only way the Broncos are going to draw a penalty.

I dont really think it is though.

If Reyno gets his wrong then he's letting in a try... it's a calculated risk and defensive action.

Teddy acting and squirming around on the ground like he's got a broken ankle suffers zero repercussions, but got him a penalty (wasnt even a hip drop) and his acting was trying to get someone binned, which if successful completely changes the game.

If nothing comes from it he just jumps up and plays on like nothing's happened... he doesnt get penalised for milking and 95% of the time players arent forced off for a HIA when they fake high shots, etc.

There's zero risk but all reward for trying to milk penalties from foul play.

It's the same as milking with ball in hand or walking off the mark... there are zero repercussions for doing so, but massive rewards if the ref just let's it go... which they do 99% of the time.

If youre not milking and diving in the NRL then you're choosing to play with a handicap... there's not even media backlash because they never ****ing talk about it

It's still gamesmanship and we've seen players punished for milking penalties. Gutho recently in the Storm/Dragons game and that cruelled whatever chance the Dragons had. Different competition, but Feldt was even binned for trying to milk a penalty - that'd be worth looking into over here.

It's tough because if you make it mandatory that a player has to come off for 15 minutes then it's 2024 and players are deliberately smashing Walsh in the head. However I think players will think twice about making a 'miracle' recovery if they know that staying down will result in a HIA.

Is there front on footage of the Talty one?

Teddy wasnt lying down to get the penalty, because ****wit already blew it based on his hysterics during the tackle... Teddy lied down to try and get Talty binned, but I swear there was a front on during the broadcast that showed clear air between Teddy's crossed ankles and Talty's lower half on the ground.
There is footage, I found it on the telegraph I think.

There's your apparent hip drop and high shot that Teddy was squirming around looking for a sin bin on... and Talty was put on report for.

Why exactly was he put on report?

Why exactly was it a penalty in the first place?

Gee got the call wrong and decided... yep I'm going to keep doubling down and completely **** this game up

Every time I hear Ricky Stuart or trent robinson cry like bitches I thank God my club doesnt come out and blame officiating like a bunch of losers.

There’s blaming officials for a loss and there’s highlighting inconsistencies or wrong decisions.

I remember Ennis stayed down when playing for us and the commentators blew up because they caught him winking to the boys.

Yeah but that was funny
