PRE-GAME Round 9 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

We're at the point where winning this game will achieve next to nothing. In fact, it will likely extend the pain. Never thought I'd have to speak like that about this club.

I'd lean towards dumping Croft before Milford. Milford and Dearden went well last year. The big issue is our halves don't connect, and our fullback isn't a ball player. If you look at all the good teams in the comp 2-3 members of their spine have a good connection.

Friend, Keary, teddy.

Smith and Munster

Korisau, Cleary, Edwards,

Moses & gutho

DCE and Tturbo.

We need that, along with a forward pack who doesn't stand flat.
Dearden and Croft looked the goods in the nines comp as a combo. Milf is a succubus to any half's partner and eventually they cop the blame for his poor form. He has had 5 years and as many partners to be playing at a consistent high level.

I think Seibs should use Milf like Hunt is at stMerg, ride the pine and play hooker for a bit of spark. If he can't be bothered taking a scoot and making a few tackles then he should be dropped completely, because his idea of ball playing is under 10s level. What the hell is that crab line he runs just putting people under him. That aint creative mate its stupid and easy to read.

What good will Dearden do when he runs the ball without any support? Same brick wall, same result.

Milford runs without supports. What's he supposed to do, pole vault over the defensive line?

Most of our plays are based on one-out running. Backs, forwards, dummy half. When we do have supports in place, a bit of shape, we score tries. I'd be focusing on that before changing a deckchair on this sinking ship

Here is our new defence coach:

DO IT SEIBOLD - WATCH, LISTEN AND LEARN ... or are you too dumb, or arrogant, or both

Say what you will about the Roosters but watching them makes me love the game. They’re actively lifting the standard that the game is played at. I would absolutely kill to have Robinson coach us. I think he might go down as the greatest coach ever.

Well maybe he has no support because he is not demanding any, he is just not calling the shots. If you look at other halfs they scream at their players. Alf was the little general because he would direct everybody around him. That is elite half play, being able to play your own game while conducting others. Milfs idea of half play is getting people to run unders line's as he drifts sideways.

My point is Milf is not running to be followed, not leading to be followed and is not creating anything at the moment. Putting him in at hooker may give him some spark to pin the ears back and go forward for a change. Dearden can direct play, we have all witnessed it.

Robinson is brilliant. He thinks outside the box to ensure everything inside works 110%. He looks to psychologists, wrestlers, soccer structures, fitness experts - you name it, if he thinks it will add to their game he is open to it. No arrogance, just a willingness to experiment to see what works.

However for mine, he focuses on the team first - structures always, and then looks to his players to integrate their individual strengths into their structures and adapts the structures where necessary to get a best fit.

Most of all though, he knows what works and what doesn't, and what doesn't gets dumped.

I will agree with you here. However, you can scream your lungs out and if nobody is within cooee, and nobody is interested, demanding what isn't there is a waste of time.

I'll have to wait to Tuesday to find out like you mate. I just got told that staff have reached their limit with players.

Well, we have a cart, we have a horse and we have the mud it's stuck in. Interesting to see the answers

Am I the only one who thought Farnworth was ok v Warriors?

Don't get me wrong he has a lot of work to do, especially on defensive reads, but you can tell the bloke is actually trying and when he does initiate contact he's a pretty effective tackler.

Something needs to be done about that edge of Farnworth/Coates because it leaks way too many points but I personally feel Herbie doesn't deserve to be dropped, even if Staggs is back.
Didn't he have Guthosen dry heaving at the end of the Eels game?

Could the unthinkable happen, and Boyd will finally be dropped!! Reckon Boyd, Milford, Oates are gone.

If Boyd is sacked, Milford is at least benched, and Oates is sacked completely, I'll have some belief Seibold has a clue and is willing to make tough decisions. At the very least it'll give fans some hope that we're trying new things.

You can't stick to the same 17 and hope things magically change, this is not a proven squad who are in a rough trot, most of them have done absolutely nothing, they don't have any rope, if they're shit they should be dropped.

Just remember Bellamy dropped Will Chambers in the finals, a guy who has been there for a long time and won them multiple premierships because there was a better option.

I'm really struggling to produce a team list this week, there's an argument to be made that half of the roster should be dropped. If we are full strength (-Ofahengaue), this is what I'd select:

1. Milford
2. Kennar
3. Fifita
4. Staggs
5. Coates
6. Paix
7. Dearden
8. Lodge
9. Luke
10. Haas
11. Glenn (c)
12. Pangai Jr
13. Carrigan

14. Turpin
15. Te'o
16. Flegler
17. Kennedy

Fullback: Niu has been 'Ok' at Fullback so far, but he's not physically ready for the NRL, last night he made 24 runs for 136 metres, that is laughably bad. Needs to get much bigger and stronger if he wants to play NRL fulltime. Isaako offers zero ball playing and skill from the #1 jersey either, seeing as there's essentially no other players available, I think Milford at Fullback to add a bit of ball playing and kicking from the position would be nice.

Left Wing: Kennar is next cab off the rank, has been close the last few weeks, after the absolute stinkers from Isaako and Oates last night, he deserves an opportunity. Will provide a large body that can get us some valuable metres out of our own end.

Left Centre: Bit of a strange one, but wouldn't mind testing Fifita out in the centres on his return, add a bit more size and skill on that left edge, can't be any worse defensively than Boyd. Give him a bit of time to ease himself back into the NRL after the knee injury as well.

Halves: Milford & Croft have to vacate the jerseys, there's nothing else left to be said. They aren't the only issue at the moment, but they clearly just aren't performing. Give a couple of young guys a run and see how they go under pressure. Paix and Dearden are both reasonable defensive players as well, something we desperately need.

Remainder: Everything else is pretty straight forward, I'd love to select some different forwards, but there's no other options, we'll just have to hope they find form.

I really don’t know why people bother putting up fantasy teams thinking Milford and Boyd won’t be there because we all know they will be playing every week regardless of performances
And the board will support the decision time and time again
