Sam thaiday named 2012 Captain!

Sam Thaiday has been named the club captain of the NRMA Insurance Broncos for the 2012 season on the day he has committed himself to a long-term deal.
Thaiday will be seen in a Bronco jersey until at least 2015 after agreeing to a new three-year extension of his contract.
And he will be doing it with the ‘c’ next to his name after it was announced Thaiday would take over the captaincy role from the retiring Darren Lockyer.

I think Sam is the ideal captain. Parker lacks a bit of the fire that I'd like to see from him as far as captaincy goes.

Plus Sam has been fantastic on and off the field ever since his well publicised incident with the 2 ex-Broncos

I am a little shocked that Sammy got the captaincy but I can see why they have done it. Parker is consistent and a great clubman but he isn't really inspirational the way Sammy is, we are going to need that next year.

I just couldn't see Parker being able to lift the team with an offload, run or tackle the way Sammy could. I love Parker and think he is a great player but as a Captain I see more potential in Sammy.

Well in fairness it was probably more the point that the captain would be someone younger, i.e. not a 29 year old 200+ game veteran.

I think Thaiday is the right choice.
