Sam thaiday named 2012 Captain!

What's hilarious is that on the Sunday Footy Show a couple of weeks ago, Tim Gilbert said he thought Alex Glenn was a certainty to be named captain.

I thought he said after Thaiday/Parker retire.

I think we had to give him the captaincy after he was basically promised it for re-signing in either 09/10.

I like it, hopefully he can improve his game but keep the big brother mentality.

I see him as a similar captain to Gordon Tallis. Probably not the smartest guy on the field, but will certainly lead by example and fire up his team.

I'm pretty disappointed Parker didn't get the captaincy.
He has been far and away our most consistent player in the last few years and has outplayed Thaiday pretty much every game this year too.

Thaiday isn't the worst candidate but I'm disappointed Parker didn't get the captaincy ahead of him :(

Good decision.

Thaiday is younger, has the big plays in him and has consistently represented his state and country for some time now. His growth as a player and a person in the past 12-18 months has been great and I believe it's what got him the nod.

Unfortunate for Corey, but this is the Broncos.

Hopefully this doesn't make him decide to do even more than he currently does. He drops the ball almost as much as he catches it, he needs to go back to the basics and go easier on the fancy stuff.

Feel sorry for Corey, giving his 110% every week for the Broncos jersey, but underrated by most.

I'm okay with Sammy's captainship, but Parker should be shown some degree of recognition by the Broncos top tier.
I wouldn't even oppose a co-captainship such as the Cows have, and seems to have done miracles for them!

i would have been happy with either Parker or Thaiday being named captain for 2012. Parker has a right to feel disappointed, but being the absolute professional that he is and being such a great club man, ne will just get on with things ang continue to do his job as well as he always does

It took some pressure off him yes but you could hardly argue goalkicking is a requirement for a captain, outside of Lockyer(who wasn't really goalkicking fulltime when he was captain anyway) who was a fulltime goalkicking captain for the Broncos?
