Sandows signs with Eels, $550,000 a year

Parra are seriously pissed that Crowe leaked this before they made an official announcement.
LOL

what an absolutely joke of a club Parra are, 550k a year is nearly triple what is is worth IMO. at least now i don't have to worry about him coming to the Broncos :D thanks Parra icon_thumbs_u

Sandow is worth about 220k max I reckon. Good on him though gotta make hay while the sun shines, if Parra are gonna pay him the money you'd be a fool not to take it.

You'd think that with Hayne and Sandow there the Eels would be giving 25% of their cap to 2 guys. Hard to believe this team made the gf a couple years ago, they are a joke.

Any player is "worth" whatever a club is prepared to pay them

Goes to show what a joke the game is, and more specifically the finals system.

If someone is willing to pay 10k for an iPhone 4 does that mean the iPhone 4 is worth 10k, or does it mean someone is an idiot that got ripped off?

Parra's recruitment strategies is one you cannot help but laugh at, seriously [icon_lol1.

South Sydney confirmed Chris Sandow will leave the NRL club at the end of the season, before club owner Russell Crowe posted on his Twitter that the halfback would sign a lucrative contract with Parramatta.

"Chris Sandow to Parramatta at $550k a year," Crowe wrote on his Twitter account.

Rabbitohs chief executive hinted that Sandow's decision was monetary based in a club media statement.

"Unfortunately for us he has met his Alan Bond," Richardson said.

"We're very disappointed to learn of Chris's decision but we wish him the best for the future."

Do the Eels understand player value at all? because this is imo about $200,000 a year more than he should be getting.

200K more than he should be getting? He should be getting less than $200,000, he's been awful until this year, and still needs to prove himself to command anywhere near that sort of salary.

I think the bigger question is, why the **** did Sandow go to Parra! (Not the other way) I know money came into it, but seriously, peoples careers END at Parramatta. It's all down hill from there. I'm trying to think of a player in recent times that actually improved at Parramatta. Seems like as soon as you leave Parramatta you get better.

Honestly, good question.

Their recruitment has been terrible too, look at all these juniors they've lost...

Nathan Gardner
Krisnan Inu
Jamie Lyon
Willie Tonga
Ben Farrar
David Williams
John Williams
Tony Williams
Kris Keating
Trent Hodkinson
Zeb Taia
Feleti Mateo
John Mannah

Must be kicking themselves at some of those names there...

[icon_lol1. why would I be taking the piss? We're allowed to agree sometimes Rock. :P

I think it's time I ditch the smurf and stop abusing the ellipsis. [icon_razz

Totally forgot about Ryan and Richards. Pat is an absolute gun over in the ESL and would be one of the best NRL wingers if he could stay fit.

Have Parramatta had a decent half since Sterling? Better yet apart from Kenny/Sterling have they had any good halves? I mean even guys like Jason Smith essentially starred in the backrow.

Daniel Wagon was pretty solid in his prime. His prime didn't last too long though.

Is Sandow even that good? I mean... IMO he still has a long way to go before I can back him to take a team to a title...

I agree Parra's recent recruitment has been a little weird, but I'm sure you could come up with a similar list for most clubs, and I'm even more sure most of the losses would be due to the salary cap.

Besides this, hindsight is a wonderful thing. For every player a club lets go that becomes a star at another club, I'm sure there are handfuls more who never make it in the game.

That's true but most of those clubs tasted success, Parra have been a rabble basically every year since 2005 and even then, the last time they've actually made a finals series in consecutive years was 2002.
