NRL will be next..
Cronulla on borrowed time.
Cronulla on borrowed time.
As Buzz said, if the Sharks go anywhere in the finals and then get found to be as deep in it as Essendon, it will be humiliating for the game.
Imagine if the unthinkable happened and the Sharks broke their 46 year drought and won their first premiership...only to have to have it stripped off them for ASADA findings?
Yes but what if the NRL act and the ASADA findings are that they haven't done anything worth penalising? As Buzz said, if the Sharks go anywhere in the finals and then get found to be as deep in it as Essendon, it will be humiliating for the game.

I partially agree with you, the NRL say they are asking them to cooperate but I hope that's true and they are doing everything they can to wrap this up ASAP. It would definitely be embarrassing if they were adjudicated to be guilty after achieving a premiership or even playing any part in the finals.Well the AFL have finalised there report and have made judgments. Why can the NRL not have done everything in its power to force this to happen quicker and force Cronulla to co-operate fully and swiftly? This is embarrassing for the NRL in this country.
Only way to actually give a footy club a proper punishment is by punishing them on the field. It would appear they gained an advantage on the field so therefore clearly they should by sanctions involving the team. By letting the team get off scot free you are basically letting them off completely regardless of the monetary punishment, they can pay that in the long run and fans will forget it but by punishing them on the field you actually draw a line in the sand and say this is what happens if you cheat.Yes, Dank is rank but it happened two years ago and really, what has that to do with 2013 ? By all means punish them financially for the offence of two years ago but how would it be fair to punish them and their supporters when no offence has been proven for this year ? Players of this season who were not even at the club would be punished when they joined a club without any knowledge of previous indiscretions .
Retrospectively ? You could reasonably argue for a financial punishment for 2011 but not for this season. They have committed no offence for this season nor has any offence been yet proven. Time will tell. Were Essendens players punished ?
