Has there been a better utility player since?

Not one with his impact.

Alex Glenn has been superb as a utility for the Broncos, but you wouldn't say he has the impact Berrigan did week in, week out.

I don't think Wing's best days were 2008-09.

Sorry I didn't read the original post thoroughly hehehehehehe

Luke Lewis

Not even close.

Shaun Berrigan is that good that I rate him as good or even better than Hodges and that's saying a lot coming from me :P

IMO Berrigan is one of the best utilities to have played the game and certainly for the Broncos. He was one of the better centres in the game, at his best he was unbreakable in defence, managed to nail it at hooker and managed to play an entire origin series at 5/8, 7, centre and off the bench. I was devastated when Berro left us in 07 he was that sort of player who was an example of courage and determination. As a fan you couldn't help but admire Berrigan.

In 06 at hooker I don't think we've seen at all a player in the nrl since who has made a switch mid season from their regular position and have such a profound impact instantly. His switching to defence at centre(a masterstroke, please don't make this a WB discussion!)in defence and just how well he played. Inglis was unstoppable back then and for the entire night Inglis couldn't do a thing, he was completely shut down by Berrigan who is half his size.

His run to score the try against the Bulldogs, at the end of it you could tell he was exhausted but he used every last bit of determination to get past 3 Bulldogs players and score it, upside down. There's not another hooker in the game who would have scored that.

I love Berrigan, definitely one of my favourite ever players, I really wish we got to see more of him. IMO he had at minimum another year in him, easily two.

Craig Wing-a-ding, Lewis Schewmis, Berrigan is in a league of his own.

Lauren....?

Haha. No. I share the same, he was awesome.

probably because Berrigan wasnt an actual hooker. itd be like putting Inglis at Prop Forward for one game, watching him score a length of the field try fending off 5 players, then saying 'theres not another prop forward in the game who would have scored that' [icon_lol1.

I love berrigan as much if not more than the next Broncos fan, but he was pretty much a jack of all trades, master of none. he was an excellent player, not just excellent at certain positions.

Hey! Don't you dare try to make my sensationalism not sound as cool :P

john plath is right up there from what i remember. but berrigan is definitely one of our better players we've had, not just utilities.

Rocky, I remember 1-2 games where he absolutely KILLED it at halfback. everyone got excited, then bam, he absolutely sucked for the next few games before they dropped him from that position. same kinda deal as Ben Walker actually.

Man, I loved Berrigan. Such a tough little player. He was always giving his all and was as strong as an ox.

It's a bit early but I reckon Glenn and Gillett have been pretty good for us as utility players.

I wouldn't get tattoos of their names on my arm yet though. Not like Berro.

What about his player number on your neck?

I love you Berro bear

Played against him in a game of touch around summer this year - hasn't lost any of his abilities, still a fast, creative and competitive player!

I loved Berro but by the time they are done Kurt Gidley and Luke Lewis will leave him in the shade.
