Sheffield Shield

My side based on the current performances and gut feel:

1. Khawaja (Maxwell if Khawaja is injured)
2. Finch
3. Patterson
4. Handscomb
5. Lehmann
6. Paine
7. Pattinson
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Lyon
11. Hazlewood

The batting is going to be terrible no matter who you put out there.

Another 50 for Patterson today, that's 3x 50's in a row.

He seems to have a big issue converting them for whatever reason.. 26x 50's and 5x 100's in FC

Hence the poor man's Joe Root comparison. That said, that sort of consistency is being screamed out from the Australian side that just cannot avoid collapses.

Harris, Handscomb & Lehmann all failed 2nd innings of their games, just to keep things interesting.

Sanggha looks a prospect, hope he kicks on.

Big day for Sangha and Edwards today.

Both first 50's yesterday, Edwards was sensational during the One Day comp and now is starting to back it up- could have his first 100 in game three- Sangha already has a FC 100 against England last summer.

Sangha showed plenty of courage, coming off a pair and they promoted him NSW were in trouble too. Very calm batting.

There's a few interesting prospects but they are all just so raw.

Sangha with the ton. His second in only five games and this with his side in all sorts, very promising indeed. I took a bit of interest in under 19s last year. He is a prospect that's for sure.

100 and out for Edwards, nice dig.

Hopefully Sangha keeps scoring runs, he's had some serious hype around him for a long time, hopefully our answer to this Mitch Marsh conundrum.

A leg spinning all-rounder, that is a VERY rare thing indeed.

Burns is pretty unlikely not to be in conversations about the test side, he has never let anyone down and still is easily the right side of 30. He should be there, far more than Renshaw should be these days anyway.

Our last Test captain was one!

Fair point, as was the last test number 5 or 6?

Neither of them though are even close to being front line bowlers. Warney was handy with the bat but Benaud is the only one I can think of that was pretty good at both.

First 3 rounds of SS, 2017-18: 8006 runs @ 26.79 runs/wicket, 54.24 runs/100 balls, 10 centuries. First 3 rounds, 2018-19: 8153 runs @ 30.65 runs/wicket, 51.07 runs/100 balls, 13 centuries.

Tremain 5/13. Pattinson 3/13. Boland 2/22. Tasmania all out for 81.

Great bowling unit.

I’m really serious in wanting to go with five bowlers, use Pattinson as the obligatory all-rounder, he’s better both with bat and ball than M.Marsh anyway.

Tremain deserves a crack.

Tremain deserves a crack.

Pace bowling is not an area of concern at all unfortunately for him or fortunately for Australian cricket.

Mind you, it seems like you could field this side and get as good batting as you would with the batsmen anyway:

1. Steketee
2. Pattinson
3. Khawaja
4. Cummins
5. Starc
6. Neser
7. Richardson
8. Bird
9. Tremain
10. Hazlewood
11. Lyon
