Shibasaki must have had one hell of a pre-season because he's played 30 games for 4 different clubs across 6-7 seasons (there was a Rugby Union stint in there too). It doesn't exactly fill the average fan with great hope.

I imagine he will be challenging Mariner and Piakura to see how they respond. Hopefully we don't lose because of Shibasaki and Gosiewski in the mean time. There are more than enough other weapons though out there but we do look much slower overall without Mam and Mariner.

It’s definitely what is happening .

There have been plenty of comments about the IQ of Piakura and Mariner. I don’t think Madge’s comments about Shib’s ability to learn their game plan and structures should be taken only at face value. I think you can fairly easily read between the lines what it says about the other options.

We saw what happened last year when we went all in on flair and potential.

If Mariner and Piakura are training hard and learning the structures they will make their way in the team.

No coach would prefer a Shibasaki over a coachable Mariner. Good structures almost always beats individual brilliances.

I also am a strong believer of making players learn the craft in Q cup before being handed full time roles - it takes a strong coach to avoid the temptation of rushing the next big thing into first grade.

Yeah we’ve always criticised the club for prioritising the big fast specimens with 0 IQ.

I’m at least willing to see how it works out but Gem & JetSki must provide safety (no errors, good defence) because that’s all they can offer this side. They have to deliver on those things.

I don't mind seeing players be made to earn it either and one of the perhaps good things out of this is that if the poor trainers are indeed being called out here, its nice to assume Cobbo isn't one of them.
Well, whether or not he’s a Dale Funicane at training, Cobbo has played like 70 nrl games, including finals, played multiple origins and for Australia.

It’s a bit harder to justify the argument that he hasn’t served his apprenticeship yet.

Does this sound like the description of a slacker ??

"I have talked to Selwyn about this. He loves the club as much as I do.

"I love being around him. That little smile that walks in the change room every day ... you know he is here to train.

"He is one of those ones that is relaxed and chilled as. He doesn't talk much but when we do get him talking he does get us smiling.

"I can't wait to get back on the field with him." Kotoni Staggs .
