Unless you're very young, or been hit with DD, driving without a licence generally means you've lost all your demerit points.

It's not hard to do that on speeding tickets alone if you travel outside the city regularly. I don't know the stats but I saw that 1 in 5 fatalities involve unlicenced drivers. I expect they're somewhat higher represented in careless driving and being general scofflaws, but it's fair to assume a high percentage of drivers are unlicenced.

So there's the catch 22: if you go out of your way to milk the roads for speeding ticket revenue, you'll wind up with unlicenced drivers.
So it's the polices fault drivers lose their licences for speeding.

......... He didn't kill anyone. He didn't speed, evade police or recklessly endanger lives. He had a fender bender. It's his first offence. Etc etc.

Uhmmmm....yes he did.

He was on drugs and unlicensed....that's a starting point.
He had drugs in his system. How would you go with that test?

And being unlicenced didn't affect his ability to drive, only his legality to drive.

Sure, no doubt, they can be pricks where they set up but it's still not the police making people go over the limit.
I drive up and down the Bruce from the Sunshine Coast every other day. It is lined with traps in cunty positions. I've become accustomed to driving under the limit, but the tail gating and angst for going too slow is seriously stressful, especially from trucks. The natural speed on that road has always been 130kph. The limit jumps up and down between 110 and 60 going in on the Sunshine Motorway, with traps very commonly where it drops down. You'd lose your licence in a day if you cruised at what feels safe or what everyone wants you to do.

Rule of thumb: the right hand lane is where everyone takes turns at speeding. You cannot travel under the limit in that lane.

I used to do the BNE to Gold Coast every day for work, it was the same. I used to say the Toll on the Logan Mwy was just the admission price to watch the crazy.

I use that road a lot too. I set my speed at 105km, 115 in the 110 zone ,leave 20 minutes early and put on 693SEN or ring a mate, don't care if someone's up my bum in the left lane that's their problem.
Haven't had a speeding fine in over 25 years.
Touch wood 😋

What if he was unlicenced because he failed the test.

Haven't had one for years either, but people visiting me on the coast get them all the time. I cycle on and off SEN. The ads and racing blather drives me nuts.

What if he was unlicenced because he failed the test.
What if he swerved off the road to save a child on a scooter?

Or to miss a moth.
I was just pointing out
"And being unlicenced didn't affect his ability to drive, only his legality to drive."
this may not be accurate.

Yes slow day.
