Bad luck. I hope he comes back strong next year.

He should never have played last night.

He was a passenger, but no he wanted to bask in the glory if QLD wrapped up the series.

About time Storm had injuries.

Why the **** was he playing last night? Didn't we go through this last year with D$E and Mal said he wouldn't do it again.

Very brave performance from Slater last night.

Thought he was among the Maroons best and his effort to set the Maroons up down the left cannot be understated.

Fair go to him and it's a huge blow not only to Queensland but also to Melbourne.

If you enter a game injured, it's not brave imo it's stupid.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time Melbourne lose one of the big 3 for a significant chuck of the season. It's honestly about time the injury gods caught up with them. I can't think of a more blessed team in the last decade in that regard.

Luckily for Melbourne, Slater is the easiest to cover of the big 3. Munster has a good chance to prove himself as first grade quality.

It isn't mutually exclusive.

Webcke was 'pretty stupid' for playing through all the injuries he did but it was his defining feature and an aspect that made me so proud of him.

And Slater didn't let anybody down despite being heavily targeted by the defence with some very blatant swinging arms and holds designed to punish the shoulder. It wasn't his greatest game, but as a Queenslander I can't fault him.

I understand that to some members on here, Melbourne are even worse than NSW and they just 'hate those Melbourne players', but I think it's a little messed up people are celebrating this and are hoping other players suffer long term injuries.

Always sad to see a champion player sidelined through injury.

We'll miss him in Origin 3 no doubt.

And fair enough too! They did knock us out of the finals, denying us genuine premiership chances with an illegal team for three years in a row. That's not exactly something to be taken lightly. Melbourne is a scum of a club with no integrity that robbed the game of years of legitimacy by influencing results with an illegal team. It's not something you just dust off and forget about in a couple of months. When you have a long running system designed to give an illegal advantage at the expense of other clubs for years and only come clean when caught out, it takes a very long time to get respect back.

it's not just because he plays for Melbourne, has nothing to do with that.. It pissed me off that DCE put himself before QLD last season in game 2 and played even tho he hadn't prepared due to being ill/injured whichever it was that week. It shits me everytime Hodges plays injured because half the time we lose him after 40minutes and waste a bench spot.

it's not exclusive to any single club, it's the players in general who play knowing they are injured that shit me.

Maybe it isn't a club thing to you, but to others it most definitely is.

It isn't always a stupid decision. I already gave you the Webcke example but even on Wednesday, Robbie Farah put his hand up for the Blues and put in a better performance than any other candidate would have.

At the end of the day, you're pointing the finger at the wrong people. It's really the coach's who should be judged for picking players with an injury since it's their job to make sure the team is going to perform at it's best. All the players can do is make themselves available and do the job to the best of their abilities. Their capacity to put their hand up and fight through injury should be recognised and celebrated in most cases.

There's also the flipside of resting injured players when in reality you should play them. Look at the Broncos in 2010. Locky was right to go against Canberra, it was their last roll of the dice but instead of trusting his captain, Henjak pressured Locky into standing down and it really hurt the club.

I didn't think he was one of QLD's best, I thought he was a passenger.

I also think he was selfish for playing.

IMO: He knew full well that he would be having surgery before the season ended.

It's hard not to be sceptical about "bravery" these days when these players get $30 grand per Origin game.

Not when you think about it. They're risking hundreds of thousands of dollars in the long run.
