Souths

When Souths were kicked out they could barely pull a crowd to their games. All of a sudden they get kicked out and they magically find 20000 people to march and protest.
 
I think you will find that a majority actually were South supporters but they were boosted by a good turn out by other supporters.

And then they got re-admitted and were pulling between 4000 and 10,000 per game for what, 6 years?

I'm gad they're finally doing well. Good football teams are better than the NRL supporting fucking useless teams. Like the Sharks.
 
Ahk, I see basically everyone on here hates Souths then. Fair enough, I won't waste anymore of my time.

All I'll say is it's such a huge achievement to come back from the brink of death as a club, and only 10 years or so later, make it one game from the Grand Final. If you're a real sports fan, you'd be able to appreciate that. I'm happy for their supporters that after years of misery, they're having some success. I couldn't give two ***** about all the politics you lot are spouting.

I respect Manly for their achievements, but I still don't like them. This is no different.

Yeah, it seems the hatred has gone from "we hate Souths because they offer nothing but a free 2 points" to "we hate Souths because they are finally a team that can win consistently".

2002 - we had the best crowd average for all Sydney teams.
2003 - 2006 we were down the bottom in both performances and crowd figures.
2007 - now we have been increasing climbing up in both performances and crowd figures.
 
I've said it before about Souths and I'll say it again. They are part of the very fabric of rugby league and deserve to be where they are.

When a culture and society loses its traditions, its roots, its history - pretty much what we are seeing now all over the place, you wnd up with a world that becomes nothing more than a feeding ground for the piranhas of the free market, without regard for anything of value except profit.

Quite frankly, that is not a world I want to live in.

Go Souths. Just get Maguire to kick Reynolds up the arse

The NRL needs to just let clubs that can't survive die and stay dead, sell the license to a new club and expand. Stop holding onto clubs just because of tradition.

The Cronulla Shunts should have booted out 20 yrs ago when the league first had the chance. They've had nothing but one disgrace after another during their pathetic 45 yr existence.

Say what you will against Rabbits, but at least Souths aren't under investigation for an illegal performance enhancing drug programme.
 
Didn't surprise me that they had another great season as I was expecting them to build on last year. Thanks to hard work and toil with te assistance of Russell Crowe the Rabbitohs are now a strong team in the premiership.

Im pretty sure they almost were cut in the 80's. Back during the rationalism process in the wake of Super League Cronulla had a very strong team that was performing very well, believe it or not the Sharks were the only club from either side that achieved higher crowds, sponsorship revenue and a rise of memberships during the Super League war years.
 
They choked last night. They were good enough but crumbled. Manly were good though. They will be back next year.
 
I don't hate Souths. I like the more than all the other Sydney sides, actually.
