Storm V Bulldogs tonight. Heaps of late off loads....by both teams.
If the refs were calling held earlier we would have seen a lot of stoppages....
What, are players deaf? Slow? If they hear held they don't offload.

The ruck speed is where the NRL needs to focus on, it was mentioned earlier about the Super League, they have a great ruck speed and tries are more from general play than kicks. I think what should happen is as soon as the player with the ball hits the ground (this means as soon as the knees or the elbows hit the ground) the ref should count to 3 loud enough for the players to hear. If there are any tackling players on the player with the ball it's a penalty. Last night's game against the Roosters was ridiculous, the Chooks would tackle one of our players then roll them over after the tackle is made, the tackles were lasting 4-5 seconds on average, which is longer than a play goes for, it's just ridiculous.
3 second rucks would be ridiculous. 4-5 seconds is still too fast. Most coaches would want a 5-8 second tackle.
I'd rather see the players told to hold the mark.....stand to their feet, play the ball properly and have the markers standing square, than this hit and roll, roll the ball back between your legs...... all in the one motion blur
3 secs is ridiculous.
That takes the contest out of it. Defenders want good contact and be able to hold up an attacker to gain an advantage, whereas attackers want to be able to bend the line and dominate the ruck getting a quick PTB. If it's too choreographed the games loses some competitiveness.
