oh, well that's a relief.

So which would be ideally the best place for the semis?

Should be get 4th, so we can survive a match, or fire up to take us through the 3 games in the finals?

Well 4th or 5th depending on if you believe in voodoo. Traditionally we fail at semis in Brisneyland, so if we came 5th, we would possibly be playing Roosters @ Sydney (provided they win), and if we failed that game, we don't deserve to be in the finals anyways.

We have a pretty good record at SFS IIRC. Wouldn't really make a difference whether we play there or here. Except giving TC and Bennett one more game at their real home ground.
