About time.
I think he's just a man/player.....whos got less than zero confidence in himself and that just maybe, maybe..... this clean up/change of culture at the club, could be just the shot in the arm he needs to get his playing career back on track....that along with a decent half, who will control the game and take most of the game management responsibilities off Milfords shoulders.
Didn't Oates do this with Seibold too?Dobbo (woop woop woop) said that the talk of "player unrest" is bullshit. "3 players does not make a player unrest".
Oates is one, unhappy that he's not being selected for first grade. Lodge is another, he wants to leave (insinuated Warriors because his partner's dad is there) but said he doesn't want to take a pay cut. Said that at least he is putting in on the field (which is true) but if he wanted to go that badly, take the cut. If no one will pay his full freight, he'll be staying (which is great, we won't be chipping in $$).
Not sure if Milford or TPJ was the 3rd person, it wasn't made clear.
...or go back to what made him one of the games most potent attacking weapons playing. Is he that old......how old is he? In my mind he's only 25....26? Surely that can't be too old.Milford may have to reinvent himself as a player,
I actually like a great deal of what I hear from Lodge and to be honest it does make me fell kind of dirty in the way he's being treated.Dobbo (woop woop woop) said that the talk of "player unrest" is bullshit. "3 players does not make a player unrest".

Being treated?? He wants out and he'd be gone if he was willing to take a pay cut , he's putting in because he's trying to sell himself.I actually like a great deal of what I hear from Lodge and to be honest it does make me fell kind of dirty in the way he's being treated.
Yes, his salary is too high for what he brings to the side, but it really isn't his fault that the game changed around him and he hasn't been able to adjust. He's still doing exactly what he was doing when we deemed him worthy of that offer so it's not like he's changed or not delivered what he promised at the time.
I'm not going to die on this hill by any means as it's become so murky as to who actually agitated for a move for Lodge first, but I'm certainly of the impression that the Broncos wanted him gone at least as badly as he may have wanted to go at any point.Being treated?? Part of the problem imo
Maybe the **** can be a little grateful our club put itself in the firing line to get him another shot of redemption instead of holding us for ransom. 1910 said that the Newcastle deal was done but dip shit wanted more money, then he comes out says that he doesn't no if he's staying or going. Fucking please! I have the impression, right or wrong at this point, that the club wants him gone because he's being paid more than his role justifies and we need to re-balance our Cap. If Lodge has any interest in going then I'd imagine it's as a result of the club not valuing his contribution or having a long term plan for him.
As for not wanting a pay cut, well I don't blame him. That's what we offered him and so far he's delivered exactly what he promised at the time. He's exactly the same player doing exactly the same job. We just fucked it up by over valuing that role and then having the rules of the game change around us.
None of that is Lodge's fault and as a young man with a young family he's entitled to want to be paid what he was promised. It's on the club to fix our cap and it's not up to the players to do it for us. I wouldn't take the pay cut either and frankly I'd have a hard time believing anyone else one here who reckons they would either.

Honestly, no I don’t agree.....and thats all fair enough.
Perhaps the changes the club is about to experience.....along with Reynolds, could be enough of a reset to bring him back to life. I think we could agree, the guy has loads of talent that is really still largely untapped/unfulfilled.
Only for the motherfucker in my way .
Please... Take the Broncos glasses off for just a second and try and be objective.Maybe the **** can be a little grateful our club put itself in the firing line to get him another shot of redemption instead of holding us for ransom. 1910 said that the Newcastle deal was done but dip shit wanted more money, then he comes out says that he doesn't no if he's staying or going. We didn't sign Lodge out of some sense of nobility or to help Lodge personally, we did it because it represented excellent value for money at the time. He was cheap because of his past indiscretions and we were prepared to look past that for what he offered as a footballer, which to be entirely fair to the bloke is tremendous value for our money for basically the entire time he's played for us aside from this last two seasons.
He's not even playing badly mind you, he's amongst our best contributors every week, it's just that a Prop Forward at 750k doesn't represent a clever use of our cap anymore. In truth, it probably never did, but absolutely none of that is Lodge's fault. The guy negotiating his end of the deal was just a fuckload smarter than the idiots negotiating on our end.
Lodge has kept his end of the bargain, it's us who have changed our minds about how we want to spend our money. If you want to tantrum chuck and illogically blame Lodge for that predicament then as a Broncos fan that's your right, but when you remove the emotion and look at it rationally, we fucked this up ourselves and it's our job to find a way out of it, not Matt Lodge's.
The main problem with Lodge is we signed him under the old wrestling NRL rules. The new rules came in and a big cumbersome front rower is not value for money. Prime Petero would be trying to be offloaded if he was on the same money as Lodge currently is.Please... Take the Broncos glasses off for just a second and try and be objective.

I could live with that. They both have Bronco blood which may or may not come in handy in this dire predicament. Everyone (new staff or old) have their work cut out for them. Every new appointment and new player recruit is part of the building block needed to make this club competitive again. Even Jesus himself can't turn it around over night. This will be a painfully elongated process with more casualties along the way.Robert Craddock thinks we need to try and get Ikin to replace Nolan
and Parker in as an assistant coach
2018 and beyond....the whole club started on this rapid decline into shitsville. Is it fair that we single out Milford as the one who should've been able to keep his game at the top level, despite the retards around him...... he was what...a 22yro, at the time?Honestly, no I don’t agree.
In 2016/17, absolutely. But I’ve seen very little since then to suggest he has the talent or drive to resurrect his career, which is a big part of the reason I think his last remaining hope is to go somewhere else.
Absolute minimum wage with options in the clubs favor, and a year by year deal, then sure.2018 and beyond....the whole club started on this rapid decline into shitsville. Whether he was on 1 million.....or 1 billlllllion dollars a season, no-one can do it on their own....and I've said it before, as a half....if your forwards aren't going forward, you WILL struggle to be effective.
I'm not excusing him...he has been shit....just sayin', thats all.
I think he's worth taking a chance on and giving him a fresh start.....in what hopefully becomes a completely different and positive environment for him to play in.
