Gallen is the heart that pumps the blood around our teams body.
We already needed to play as close to a perfect game as ever seen in rugby league,& you have just made it that much harder!
We have a state full of 7 year olds down here sounding like the biggest collection of Phil Collins fans crying out "I've been waiting for this moment for all my life".What are you doing to them?
All we ask for tonight is that you end the pain of our entire state.Against all the odds let us end the streak.
Tonight could go down as one of the great moments in NSW history....or it could be just another year our prayers have fallen on deaf ears.

It was in 2005 or 2006 for the Broncos. He got injured fairly regularly, and this was his worst. Can't remember exactly how it happened though.

Originally it started due to a shoulder charge gone wrong from Meli back in 2003. That was one of those unique rivalries in that Meli would usually hit Tate with at least one good shot everytime they went up against one another. I remember him pulling off a beauty at Suncorp in R2 of 2005 for instance.

But yeah, the brace came on in late 2005 after a game at Cronulla. Brent wasn't having the best of evenings, a typical bad Tate game where he blew tries and made mistake after mistake. Anyways, unsure if my memory is correct but this is how I remember it: Tate was streaking away and headed for the try line when David Simmons (who was something of a try saving specialist, pulling off a similar job on Bowen in his prime) took him down metres before the line and he fell awkwardly on his shoulder.

I could have that wrong and it may have been a tackle which went wrong or another strong hit up but that's my foggy memory of the incident.

I also recall he apparently split his tongue that evening...not a good evening.

But what I liked about this was that Tate came back and quickly established himself as one of the form centres in the competition. A lot of people whinged about his selection in the Tri Series competition during the post-season until he scored one of the best individual tries in International history which brought us back into the game.

Queenslands chances have improved because my dad is watching the game with me the Maroons always play better when he is in the country.

Tate improved dramatically after the injury and after he left the Broncos. Became probably the 2nd best defensive centre after Cooper, became a bit less selfish and still retained his great running game. Not to mention how much he lifted whenever he played for QLD.

Fair comment.

Tate was a very quiet player before then. Always seemed classy but seemed to be picked as an Australian representative more on potential than actual performance. However, by the time he put on the brace it seemed like for better or worse you knew Brent was playing.

He kind of reminds me of what Nate Myles used to be like. I'd hate for us to pay him the big bucks for our club, but put him in the Maroons jersey and I'm on the Tate bandwagon.

Don't forget Tate putting on the afterburners in Game 3, 2006 to get us back in the game.

He was also my Man of the Series last year, caught every bomb, cleaned up loose balls and kept us going forward.

Wish I could like that post a thousand times vertigo.

That try doesn't get the credit it deserves. We did not look like scoring try after the video referee debacle. We just didn't seem to have the belief and we were coming up with some really strange plays. I thought it was well and truly game over when I saw Wesser throw a forward pass out to Smith who for whatever reason was standing out on the wing.

Then Schifcofske (one of my favourite non-Broncos of all time) takes a dogged run out of dummy half, not a whole lot doing but he fought with every fibre of his being to get an offload away. Thankfully two things happened in that moment. First off, Timana Tahu went off due to an injury in the lower extremities which meant Menzies had to shift out-wide and secondly the ball found JT's hands. What makes JT brilliant isn't his ability to organise a play, it's his ability to play what's infront of him and he summed the situation up when he produced that step and found Tate out wide.

I nearly had a heart attack when Tate was over the try line...the guy wanted to make it as dramatic as possible...JUST PUT IT DOWN!!!

The cool thing too was that a similar try had occur just a few weeks prior at Brookvale when Tate found himself in the clear and somehow out-paced B. Stewart to the line.

Enough Tate gushing. This Origin special on Fox is brilliant.
