I Just read this on fox sports

MELBOURNE football manager Frank Ponissi has failed to deny his club has been desperately trying to off-load at least two more members of its senior squad in a bid to ease pressure on its salary cap for the 2009 season.

Storm officials have contacted rival clubs over the off-season, including North Queensland, Wests Tigers, Brisbane and St George Illawarra, to sound out their interest in picking up the contracts of fringe prop Scott Anderson and winger Steve Turner.

Like so many champion teams before them, Melbourne has become a victim of its own success, with coach Craig Bellamy's starting 17 this year bearing little resemblance to the one which powered to the 2007 premiership.

This is just funny [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. I do hope that the Broncos didn't even entertain the prospect of picking up Turners contract (not that they would have had the funds available). IMO, he is one of the most overrated wingers in the NRL. i don't know anything about Anderson though.

Yeah, I LOL @ Turner. Woe is me, dont' want to play for the Titans, want to stay at Melbourne. 2 years on, they're trying to sell him off.

Hilarious!

ha turner! not for quids, most teams would be reluctant to go his way after his very poor form after signing with the titans and renegging. Some team struggeling to attract "big names" may entertain the idea, maybe raiders could do with him as a fullback perhaps...

um on a serious note I know nothing on Anderson, he's a prop right? Maybe he's worth a look?

Anderson is a prop yes. He is big and strong but he is unproven at this level....we have enough of those sorts of players already!

Turner= good luck to him trying to find a club at this late stage. Off to England for him

So long as Quinn and Turner get selected for NSW again, I'm a fan!!!

BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Stupid, salary cap cheating Storm.........

I'd happily take Lima off their hands... not that we could afford it lol

Yeah Lima would be nice. Turner is a great finisher and crap everything else.

Lima, Manu, Blair; I'd take any of those 3 in a heartbeat.

I'd take Cronk too, to play 9 now and 7 when Locky goes with Wallace at 6.

That is bad for the game Chambers has plenty of talent and would have played origin eventually.

Bugger. He would have been a very very handy league player.

We'll never stop players going to Union if they want to go. Chambers has a union background IIRC, and immediately they could pay more than any NRL club for someone of his experience, so I can understand it. It's a shame though.

I think the UK's crack down on issuing visas and thus leaving more players in the NRL player market is only going to hurt keeping players like Chambers in the game here.................

On a plus it looks like now the Reds have signed Chambers that they will probebly leave Hunt alone now. Should make things a bit easyer if were not getting into a union bidding war to keep him.

Not good news for the storm.

Storm will be fine, they have a stack of quality outside backs coming through.. young Joe Tomane will go on to be a lot better than Chambers ever could have been.
