Storm V Knights (Spoilers)

If you can find any cases where the 3 you mentioned sledged someone over depression or anything else equally out of line, then I will give them the same treatment.

Until then, STFU.

First part was a bait, it got the response I expected. Second part is the worry about it, I feel for Cory but this incident will likely see the Hodges/Matai/Ennis type players trying to get him to explode over this stuff on the field and give away reactionary penalties. I think sledging is great for the game until it crosses the line which it did here, unfortunately Cory has probably made it worse for himself unless the league come down hard (big fine?) on Slater for a sledge that obviously went way too far.

I think sledging is part of the game, but it should never be personal! I only sledge other players about their ability, or lack of. Constantly into someone saying "I'll get past you", "you've got nothin'" etc. So if anyone brings things such as family, personal issues, marriage breakups etc. that is too far IMO/

Exactly. Like Chanderpaul or whoever it was had a go at McGrath about his wife - while she was being treated for cancer. That's just not on.

Was that the sledge where McGrath asked him what Lara's dick tasted like and he replied "Ask your wife"

nothing wrong with that sledge.

That's the one, and there was something wrong with it because McGrath's missus was very sick. Therein lies the problem with having a go at someone about their missus. You don't know what's going on in their family life and you could be crossing the line in a big way.

Keep it about the person you're sledging, and keep it about what they're doing (ie playing cricket, footy, whatever). Leave race, family, illness, whatever way out of it. If not then expect the consequences. I would've been happy for Cory Patterson to smash Billy's face to be honest. He would've ended up suspended for 10 weeks, while Slater gets away with just an uglier face than he already had. Good self control from Paterson.

Oh, and I would've had no problem with McGrath ripping Chanderpaul's head off and leaving a pulsing stream of blood coming from his decapitated neck.

Unfortunately would've seen McGrath in jail for life, but meh...worth it.

Mortal Kombat style!

That's just an awesome sledge. But Billy Slater went way over the light.. waaaay waay.

Awesome sledge, maybe...but when everyone in the world knew what Jane McGrath was going through, not so awesome...in fact, worse than Billy's really.

Sledging about depression is just too far IMO. Not surprised Slater would do something like that.

That may be true but in the heat of the moment its normal to say crap like "Your mum" and "Your wife"

Depression however isn't something you would shoot off in the heat of the moment without actually meaning it.

That may be acceptable behaviour in Logan, but the rest of the world would frown upon speaking ill of someone's family.

So your saying you have never in your life used the "Your mum" or "your wife" line even with friends?

With friends, yes, as a joke. That's different. Just like I call some of my non-white friends by the racist term for them...and they laugh because it's not meant to offend.

With people I don't know, trying to upset them, no. That's just low.

Blah, sounds like last week when the Storm played the Sharks, Sharks had the opportunities but just couldn't score (nothing new) and the Storm continue to get wins through their awesome defensive efforts.

Melbourne storm are the biggest bunch of cheat wanks about

Fixed yours too

How do they cheat? By going to 4 grand finals in a row? And don't say dirty wrestling tactics because that has been put to bed.

I do agree that it is low with someone you don't know. I wouldn't walk down the street and sledge some random about their mother/wife . But on the sporting field in the heat of things saying "Ask your wife" is pretty calm especially as it was just returning a sledge.
