Storm V Knights (Spoilers)

That's the one, and there was something wrong with it because McGrath's missus was very sick. Therein lies the problem with having a go at someone about their missus. You don't know what's going on in their family life and you could be crossing the line in a big way.

Keep it about the person you're sledging, and keep it about what they're doing (ie playing cricket, footy, whatever). Leave race, family, illness, whatever way out of it. If not then expect the consequences. I would've been happy for Cory Patterson to smash Billy's face to be honest. He would've ended up suspended for 10 weeks, while Slater gets away with just an uglier face than he already had. Good self control from Paterson.

Glenn McGrath started something he couldn't finish. If he's going to be a smart arse then what else did he expect?

It's not like he said, it tastes like your wife's cancer or anything? McGrath was just a sook about it, if he's going to try and be a big tough man sledging, then he's got to expect a retort.

On Slater, maybe a bit far bit imo what happens on field stays on field. They've patched it up privatley that's good enough for me.

Perfect way to sum the whole thing up there Je$ter.

He has to feel that way. He plays the game. The brotherhood has to stick together.

And you can sledge with impunity now. As I said earlier, you can expect to get away with it without having your head smashed in because the judiciary doesn't stand for it anymore. Unless it's in Origin.

I stand by what I said. Slater's a grub and he's just shown everyone yet again that's a fact.

Oh for sure his a grub i cant stand him. But the fact they sorted it out themselves makes it a nothing story for me now.

OMG I can't stand Slater - that type of sledge is completely and utterly unacceptable and has just proved once again whow much of a grub he is.

I'm surprised that so many people on here actually take depression seriously. I always thought most people would take a viewpoint like Slater obviously has and treat it as bullshit.

Anyways, regardless of who did it, it's a low act. And I expect nothing more from that little shit Billy Slater.

If Slater was truely sorry for what he said, he would have apologised after the game.

Would Slater has said anything like that to Greg Ingless's ex GF, I doubt it.

Are you seriously saying that you think depression is bullshit??!!!

Sledge his team mates gf?

Scotty? No, I think he was surprised there weren't more douches on here that do think that though.

I think depression is being more and more understood by the general community these days, and people are more sympathetic to it. Afterall, it's a physical illness like anything else. And treating it is not as simple as popping a few happy pills and it goes away.

Fair enough - I must have mis-interpreted his post. Apologies to Scotty.

Yes.

She suffers from some sort of mental illness.

No difference in the two disorders. Just one plays football.

So we can assume, what he said to Patterson, is what he wants to happen to all people with depression etc.

yes but your asking if he would sledge his own team mates gf right?

Think about it seriously. I cant stand Slater but i dont think he is silly enough to attack a Team mates gf.

Well he was dumb enough to say it to a footballer.

Footballers will know someone with depression etc, & he has just pissed them all off.

Put it another way draggx...if Slater is saying it's ok to bag a person for suffering depression, what's to stop someone else bagging one of his teammates about depression who happens to have a wife/girlfriend suffering from it?

Think postnatal depression.

I've had a pretty close experience with it and it's fucking hard on the entire family. Think about how many players are having their first children - Locky and Corey to name but two. God forbid, if Loren or Margaux were to suffer PND, how would they feel if they were in camp with Slater at Origin and thinking "mate, you got no idea how bad depression really is"...

What about Justin Hodges himself?

Sure, Slater's been big enough to contact Cory Paterson and apologise, and I hope it means he'll put any sledging about depression out of his kit bag.

It's all good, don't worry about it.

I definitely don't think it's bullshit, believe me lol. As Coxy was saying, I'm just surprised more people aren't more insensitive about it. It's nice to know that people seem to be understanding about it actually icon_thumbs_u

Ooo, touche ;-)

Bear in mind not everyone who commits suicide is clinically depressed...

Billy Slater's sledge to Cory Paterson revealed

"Go and have a cry in your room."

This is the taunt that fullback Billy Slater directed at Newcastle forward Cory Paterson last Saturday night, and which prompted the Melbourne and Australian fullback to issue yet another apology yesterday.

Having waged a long battle with depression, Paterson reacted angrily on the field when sledged by Slater during the match at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

Is that it. [icon_lol1.

I was assuming he said something like, go & top yourself or something similar.
