But it's not a blockbuster. It's a Storm team with their spine 2 days removed from Origin against a team who will be severely weakened due to the fact their Origin stars wont back up.

Really, it'll be x minutes of Broncos stubbornly resisting the Storm, and 80-x minutes of the Storm running away with the game.

No surprises here at all. The modus operandi has always been that the game involving the NSW team is live into NSW, except on extremely rare occasions.

Not sure really. On the very rare occasion you'll find that a blockbuster like this will favour a Sydney game. I am a little surprised it's not live in Sydney considering Canberra aren't a Sydney team and no one gives a shit about them here. People don't exactly race to the TV when Souths are playing either. I bet if you asked everyone in Sydney which game they would prefer to watch, most would say Brisbane Vs Melbourne. I'm sure of that.

Pretty sure Rabbitohs matches rate pretty high. The Raiders who never get FTA need to show off their sponsors "Who are we?" (Huawei). In saying that you should have 1 vs 2 but can understand why they are showing us live.

From what I read Huawei only sponsored the Raiders because they had to sponsor an Australian organisation or something as part of a business deal or legal requirements to do something in Australia.

I believe they wanted to do something with the NBN but were denied due to they might find National Secrets they might on sell.

That could be it, I can't remember the article that I read but from what I remember it's basically something they done to get a foot into something else, not because they actually wanted to sponsor the Raiders.

I think this is a shocker actually. Regardless of how many players are missing it's still 1 vs 2 and it's likely going to be a higher quality game than Souths vs Canberra. This has to be one of those occasions where it warrants being shown live in both states. I'd be filthy if I lived in NSW but I guess you learn to live with it.

I hope the NRL screws 9 to the wall for the broadcast rights next season. If we continue with two Friday night games they should both be broadcasted live on different channels. People in NSW should be able to watch the Queensland game on GEM and people in Queensland should be able to watch the NSW game live if they want to.

Can't? No. Technically it's no problem.
Won't is the problem. Because they'll effectively split their ratings in the 7.30 timeslot. That impacts their advertising sale product.
