Talbots payments to Broncos players

The NRL's salary cap auditor has launched an investigation into Brisbane Broncos following allegations mining magnate Ken Talbot had handed out cash to several players.

Whatever the outcome, a hope a formal and final resolution is come to quickly before rumours get out of control.

Yeah. And I hope it's revealed that Talbot's dealings with the players was done completely in confidence with the players themselves, and not involved the club. If that's the case how can the NRL have any recourse against the Broncos?

Gotta give kudos to Bruno on this one as well - making the first contact with the auditors, reinforces that the club has nothing to hide / knew nothing about it

As far as i am aware if the club knew nothing about it or assisted in the dealings between Talbot and the players there was NO breech of the salary cap rules.

Technically I suppose not, but it does open a rather large can of worms and is still probbaly a little dodgy. Ultimately the club is responsible for their players, and perhaps it should be up to the club to find out what other payments players are receiving. In most large organisations, employees are suppose to declare "gifts" such as this.

Surely it's an unfair advatnage that one club has a fan with so much coin he can afford to give the players what would appear substantial payments. If it was the bulldogs players receiving these payment, I wonder if people views on it would be the same?
