i understand australias form has been very good lately but i dont think we should take this tour lightly. New zealand arre very good in there own conditions and it could be a very sharp learning curve for batters like joe burns, usman khawaja and adam voges i aslo believe with smiths form he needs to move to three like he did in the ashes tour when he was our only decent batter other than chris rogers

Sayers is a south Australian swing bowler. Check his stats. Concentrates on late swing. Up the top of the shield wicket takers past few seasons. Should do well in NZ.

Lessons learnt from the Ashes; speed won't win in these conditions. Sayers and Bird will swing and move the ball off the pitch and away from right handers.

Very happy with the Squad selected for the NZ test tour. Bird and Sayers are ideal for New Zealand conditions. The only issue I see is the lack of preparation the likes of Khawaja and Burns will have. I know NSW and WA have a shield match over there beforehand so that helps NSW and WA players.

Burns should be working on his defensive technique in the nets in the meantime as he will get found out against swinging balls the way he plays. Khawaja is on a level at present where he doesn't need to practice. Haha

i just dont understand how you can pick a player just because he is suited to the new zealand conditions

Err Coz he's been the leading wicket taker in the shield for some time and it's being played in New Zealand. I would understand your point if the series was being played in the West Indies.

yeah but i believe in picking a team and sticking with it if it means have chad sayers in your team in australia then do it but i dont like the inconsistency in the team with the constant switching and changing of the team depending on the conditions

That's how cricket teams have been picked since 1877.

It will swing in New Zealand; so you take bowlers who can swing the ball; Sayers swings it away from the right hander and Bird swings it in.

Would you go to India with no spinners?

It's not as if he hasn't been performing; highest wicket takers in SS in 12/13 with 48 wickets in a side that came last, 36 at 28 in 13/14, 12 at 31 (5 games) in 14/15 and this year 16 at 25 from 4 games.

Were you against two spinners in Sydney a few weeks ago?

well i just believe that changiing the team every time we play in different conditions mean we wont generate that team spirit

But we're not changing the team, we're changing one bowling spot. Even our great team of a decade ago used to swap the third seam spot between Lee, Bichel, Kasper, Millar, MacGill, Clark and others in for one or three like Nicholson, Young, Bracken, Hauritz, etc. Even the no.6 swapped between Lehmann, Watson, Symonds, etc. Your point really doesn't make much sense.
