What exactly are the rules these days for cap free TPAs?

Same rules as before; if they're a club sponsor or organised by the club- cap. If they're nothing to do with the club and organised by you or your manager you can make more money than Messi if you can get it.- cap free.

If that was the case; those third party deals would still be on the cap. The club getting you third party deals doesn't save you cap space it takes it up.

Because we all know that that's exactly how it goes down during negotiations. So long as the club doesn't guarantee them, for all intents & purposes they appear as if the manager sourced them.
