Let's face it, the Bulldogs from 2002-2008 SHOULD have won at least 3 premierships IMO. They've always had the players but always under-achieved.

The same could be said about the broncos, roosters, dragons and eels in that time period, but thats the beauty of the salary cap!!!

Nothing beautiful about the salary cap. It's basically a Kindergarten concept - okay Mr. Dragon, you've had your turn, now it's Mr. Storm's turn. Of course, some kids are still excluded anyway (Mr. Shark), but IMO it's really a pretty lame concept. If the system is designed so you win once every 16 years then how special is it really? It's more a cycle rather than an achievement.

Frank knows he'll cop a lot of flack for this, but if the Broncos were given the choice at the present time of Sonny Bill and Lockyer, Frank would be very tempted to take Williams. Lockyers past his prime unfortunately, and his knees just seem like theyre never gonna get better.

No flak from me, Locky is undoubtedly in his twilight years. If a great young player was on the market, and I was Bruno, I'd suggest Locky chat to Wigan pronto.

Not sure I'd necessarily pick SBW. I still think he's grossly overrated, but he does have potential to be a pretty handy back rower in the future.

By That Concept id Suggest Locky chats to Wigan now so that we can retain Ennis And in 09 We let Moon Find his feet.

Don't think the Dogs were good enough to win anything other than the 04 premiership. That was easilly their best side than - Best forward pack, and a great backline, especially with Tonga being the best centre in the world in that year.
Afterwards, with Tonga injured suddenly their backline looked terrible. Also with Anasta not yet being a true playmaker at that stage, Sherwin being one of the worst halfbacks in the comp and Corey Hughes/Adam Perry being two of the worst hookers...they were never going to win anything more than the 2004 premiership IMO.

Agreed. Without a salary cap we'd have a situation where you have 3 or 4 clubs that dominate every year because they could afford to pay the best players and stockpile talent.

Others would have also rans and play accordingly.

but then the poorer clubs would be forced to bring in "cheap" young guys and behapes blood some future talent

For the rich clubs to poach...a la St George in the 1950s/60s where they won 11 straight.

The salary cap is still doing it's work but only now is it's value being understood. When mooted it could have been seen by long range thinkers as a tool to gradually weed out the poorly run clubs . It's a bloodless coup .Give them time to blunder towards the inevitable. These clubs in trouble have been in that state for years. Recent changes have'nt helped but the rationalization of Sydney must happen. If clubs go, and they must , then they have themselves to blame. Won't stop them bleating 'injustice injustice'.
