THE “Cameo Broncos”.

Yeah he was great and one of the few non-star Broncs back in the day. That said, the best sub ever for the Broncs is definitely Shaun Berrigan, hands down.
Ok. Thats the other guy I was thinking of. Also Casey Maguire was a handy sub as well

Michael De Vere IMO. He was so good, he had to retire to make it fair for others.

Berro played all over the park as well .
Centre , hooker , half and 5/8

Mundine would have to be the ultimate cameo.

But no love here for 38 gamer, Origin and Aus rep, and Bronco premiership winner - Tony Currie. Also won comp with dogs.

He was a bit of a hero of mine as a kid. He wasn't the biggest centre going round but he was so damn reliable. He never seemed to miss a tackle and he always seemed get it right in attack. He just wasn't flashy. I got to meet him in the 91 season launch as a young colt and thing that struck was just how normal he looked, not anywhere near the size of players today and yet he could bring anyone down. I think I was actually taller and heavier.

Tony Currie was a machine .
As a youngster he was pretty skinny . Going to Sydney and the Bulldogs really put some meat on his bones .

Agreed , not flashy just very efficient . Darren Smith similar type .

How about Craig Frawley for a two-time cameo specialist?

That's a good one. He replaced Wendell after his defection and big things were expected of him. However, injury totally ruined his career.

He was going pretty well in his second stint in 2007 (I think?) from what I remember, before getting injured. 2007 in general felt like some voodoo bullshit, where half the team ended up on the sidelines, including most of our best players.

That was a horror season, every game, another two or three would go down. It's amazing they still snuck into 8th.

Didn't we play or name Thaiday at 5/8th against the Storm in the 2007 qualifying final that we copped a flogging in? Yeap, man that back 6 is horrid and would be even worse if it wasn't for Boyd and Hodges.

I just remember Brisbane went from having Wendell Sailor, Lote Tuqiri, Chris Walker & Justin Hodges to Scott Minto, Stuart Kelly & Craig Frawley and it was like what the hell happened. Kelly had been there before, but as soon as he grew his hair out and became more recognisable it really highlighted how far the mighty had fallen.

In fairness to Craig, after a rough start he began showing signs of improvement. He came up with a try-saving tackle on Matty Bowen which sealed the match for Brisbane late up in Townsville and he found his feet. Right as he was beginning to look like a handy first grader, he suffered a season ending injury and get snapped up by the Raiders.

Like a lot of players, he never found his feet there and eventually signed on with Brisbane. He was a really handy player to have around the Origin period, but like so many others I think he suffered an injury and that was the end of him. My only recollection of him was this game at Suncorp where he decided to hold the ball in one hand like Sonny Bill Williams and gave half the crowd a heart-attack.

Scott Minto, Craig Frawley, Nick Emmett, Leon Bott, Kaine Manihera, Reece Robinson, Tame 'Gary' Tupou, Lachlan Maranta, Aaron Whitchurch, Tautau Moga...Bennett definitely has a type.

Accept - '07 was one of the worst seasons I can remember, not just for the Broncos but in general. So many clubs were dealing with upheaval that the gap between the Top 2 and the rest of the competition was staggering. In the end the season came down to an unconvincing win over Canberra at Suncorp and the Knights scoring two late tries to sink the Tigers. That last round game between Brisbane/Parramatta is one of the weirdest 'hidings' I've ever seen.

Scott Minto, cult favorite and a true club legend even if he was one of the most ordinary players ever. Won't ever forget his try against the Storm to win in extra time.

Compare our backline to the back 6 the Storm got to field in that final of 2007 and no wonder they cut us to shreds.

1. Billy Slater
2. Steve Turner
3. Matt King
4. Israel Folau
5. Anthony Quinn
15. Matt Geyer

Everyone remembers the golden point game, but whenever I think of Minto, I think of a game the Broncos had against Canberra in '03.

His opposite scored a bunch of tries down his edge and Noseferatu looked far from a first grader. You would have wondered why he ever got the gig, and then he took an intercept from Brad Drew and ran 90 odd metres to win the game for Brisbane. From zero to hero, the Scott Minto story.

Can't even remember Clifford Manua, what is his story Big Pete?

Apart from being a part of my 'awful names' team with Sione & Sam Lousi, Manua was a promising young forward the club brought in from Cronulla. He actually wasn't a bad bench player, had an offload on him which you may remember from a game against the Bulldogs where Taylor produced a freak-ish pick up to charge onto it. He didn't last long at the club, I believe Melbourne picked him up at the end of the season and proceeded to let him play in reserves where to be fair he most likely belonged.
