The Ashes 2013/14

One glimmer of hope is that when MJ performs with the bat, it often translates to a good performance with the ball. He did have the likes of Trott, Root, worried in the recent one day series.

Mitch and Haddin the only two that can hold there head up, the batters need to pull their heads in. If we can get to the end of the day with Haddin and Sids still in we have a shot, which we didn't have at lunch. Like sproj said it would be nice for once to have a great partnership like Mitch and Haddin be the icing on the cake, instead of the slight glimmer of hope

Warner played well but played a terrible shot to get out

It was definitely a good innings for sure from Johnson/Haddin, I don't think that should be dismissed because others failed to do their jobs.

England's day and so far, not so good for the Australians. Need to perform with the ball to be any chance, otherwise, England have this well and truly in the bag.

Cutting Warner Watson Clarke Smith Faulkner Haddin Johnson Siddle Harris Lyon Agar There we go.

Clarke at 5, and drop Watson (don't ask me who replaces him though)

Seriously, Clarke averages 40 more runs one slot down, he should play there!

All true. Hopefully the pitch quickens up and the predicted stormy conditions predicted help our bowlers out. We are still in it but boy we need to bowl well

Sure are still in it. That's the beauty of Test cricket. There are always ebbs and flows, especially if the last series is anything to go by. It's highly unlikely that England can play 4-5 days of high quality Test cricket. We just need to stick with them and put some pressure on them. The big problem for Australia is winning enough of the big moments.

I wish our batters could just let the ball go by. With the exception of Johnson every wicket that fall today the ball was no where near the stumps. Just leave it the **** alone lads

What should be our plan? Come out swinging?

Our bowlers are realy going to have to be on song early if we're to be any chance in this test (well d'uh)

However, if we can get at least another 100 runs, i think we'll be back in this match well and truly.

Lots of calls today for Clarke to drop back to #5 in the batting order too ???

He needs to IMO. He bats so much better there. If the insist on selecting bailey the nuffy then put him in at 4, he'll do nothing wherever he bats... Still can't believed they selected him

C'mon Harris, Siddle and co ... let's wreck their shit

Bugger all swing about for our bowlers, so they're going to have to bowl quality line and length to get a wicket.

Something Johnson isn't doing.

Just deserts for Lyon getting the big wicket of Bell ... he's bowling beautifully today
