SPOILER The Brisbane Broncos are winning the 2025 NRL Premiership

Idk it would be good for that to happen but I think us winning the prem relies most on Walsh, I don't think what he has shown is even close to his peak as he still early in his career.
Reece is a match winner on his day and will only improve but IMO Madge is the guy we rely on most to get us there to a premiership. If he’s doing his job and on his game the team will be up for it. Reece will be the cream on the top and rightly so.

Seemed like the game plan since Reece has been back has been give the ball to Reece which worked well in 23 but teams would just line him up in 24 when it was always the same shape, wasn't really a plan B.
Hoping Madge has some plans up his sleeve, which I think he will.

I'm probably more confident in Barrett coming up with the attacking shapes than Madge... I think Madge is all about defence and systems, which is great because that feels like something that has been missing for decades at this point.

There's evidence at this point that Barrett is competent at setting up attacking systems, so I think he should be able to work with the guys we've got there... tbh if our coaching staff can't get something out of a spine that includes Walsh, Reynolds, Bhunt and Ezra, then there are issues... not even taking into account the other weapons we have in Selwyn, Staggs and Mariner, as well as the forward momentum created from Haas, Patty and Willison.

There is plenty to work with across this roster, it's just about getting them to actually be able to do it.

Not saying to do that but integrate his best abilities in set plays as Reece's best qualities are in chance creation using his speed and agility to create overlaps, his style of play works best as a supplier of chances rather than doing everything himself, given he has an excellent long pass in him and short kicking game.

You can't win a premiership on just a solid base of players you need that extra star quality to carve teams apart.

23 was an anomaly the rest erratic. Madge has his work cut out for him.

What that kind of shows is that we have a pretty good football side...that is unfit. They tend to go pretty well early and then fall off in the backend of the year. If Maguire can get their fitness up, they definitely have the quality to be the 2023 style side consistently.

Bro that graph means nothing.
How so ?
Clearly shows, as Sproj Sproj has said, that it appears we run out of puff at the business end of the season. Whether that be fitness or desire is something the coaching staff will need to come to terms with and correct if we are to improve. Have faith.

would be interesting to plot what significant happened throughout those seasons to see if there is any correlation with the drop off
like 2020 that was the year for the sweeping rule changes right?
origin affected rounds there is a drop off it seems just different years it is mitigated better

Would be surprised and a tad upset if that hadn’t already been done. Maybe a reason for a coaching change. Anthony was let go after 2020 and Kevin wasn’t any better in 2021. Of course 22 was a disaster and 24 not much better. Our recent history is unacceptable but better days ahead.

Origin is typically from Rd 13-19... pretty much all of the drop offs align with that except 2023, because we were positioned well, but also had great depth, so we were able to rest the origin players without losing games.

Managing the origin period is the big thing this team needs to figure out, because it's been derailing seasons for decades now.

We should be great in 2025, first year Maguire teams usually are. It is the subsequent years that will be telling.

There’s a million different factors that go into a footy season. In 2020-21 we didn’t have Reyno, 22 no Walsh, along with all the other bunch of shit that changes year to year.

Panthers hovered around 5 to 8 2016 to 2018, came 10th 2019, then dominated the next 5 years.

I’m more just pointing out that graph is way way too simple for my liking to grasp anything telling

The biggest issue we have is still the backrow depth.
It seems we just couldn't/can't offload a half and hooker to buy a decent backrower.
All in on Jhunt and Goz as backups.

That’s all good mate just disregard it. Cheers.
