SPOILER The Dynasty Begins: The Brisbane Broncos are winning back-to-back premierships in 2026

Yeah its all very interesting isn't it, Maguire's success with us and Cleary's success with Penrith shows just how important a pathways system and culture are.

Both of them coached Wests and both got nowhere...no one else has won a premiership now in the last five years. So the Tigers picked the right guys but the culture was so engrained and rotten, they have still gone nowhere.

Also shows what a great job Donuts has done in turning our club around. He may well be the most important recruitment we've made in the last 20 years.

So we should eventually target Benji as Maguire's replacement?

Big challenge for Madge will be the eventual retirement of Reynolds and Hunt I reckon. But as you say, given he's just won us a premiership, he'll hopefully be given the time.
For sure but the truth is that both Reynolds and Hunt are more experience than performance at this point in their career.

We already have players in their positions who can match their onfield output. Whether or not the rest of the team will have enough experience and IQ to make up for their absence is the question.

A serviceable halfback who just does their role and can make their tackles is all we really need.

Ezra and Walsh have so much attacking flair and a kicking game that rivals most halves. The leadership group just needs to keep them, especially Walsh, grounded.

Yea, even last year where some Reece magic won games for us - it was obvious that he couldn't do all that without Reynolds and Hunt steering the ship too (and cluctching those conversion/field goal attempts).

Our young guns have another year or 2 to hopefully step up to those leadership roles and build that footy smarts. I think if anyone can make sure that happens, it'll be Madge.

I think Madge will be pretty comfortable with where things stand on those two.

Realistically he probably wants Reyno to just announce retirement and join the coaching staff instead of trying to bring him along for another year and have to fit him in the 17 each week.

I think the big watch this year will be Ezra.

The club banked on a core group of Payne, Patty, Walsh and Ezra... to date that has absolutely paid off with 2 GF's in 3yr and now a premiership.

However, Ezra is the one that hasn't necessarily shown that he's taken that big next step and can be part of the core group that carries the team forward when Reyno, etc. retire.

He's shown that he can be electric, but he's mostly been a support player and working off what others provide him... hopefully this year he can take that step and show that if he's on his own he can lead the team and be a focal point.

If he does that then the premiership window is basically open for the next 10 years.

Not really sure where else to post this.

This video gives me chills.

Bloody glorious. 🙌

I think with Ezra, we need to be careful to avoid the mistakes we made with Milford.

If you have a serviceable halfback with a decent kicking game you don't need to turn Ezra into a game managing half and move away from his strengths which are his explosive running game and his support play

I think Pezet is locked into that organising half spot. We just need to wait 12 months so this year its Reyno and if he goes down it'll be Hunt. Either way the future looks bright!

Agree on not trying to make him a game managing 7, but I want to see him take the next step where he's not just parked on the left edge waiting for the ball to come to him OR just finishing off linebreaks that Walsh has already made.

If Walsh is having a quiet game or being shut down I want to see that Ezra can step up and be a focal point of the attack.

I still can't believe south's let Reynolds go. It's like clockwork watching teams gradually decline when they lose a dominant half. Teams can survive for a little while, and sometimes even improve on the short term as the whole team lifts but eventually they all go to shit. Hopefully Pezet is the right man for the job otherwise we'll have the same fate once Reyno and Hunt are gone.

Not enough credit being given to Ezra around here, I would have thought. I think he is just about ready to explode onto the scene in a bigger way than he already has.
You could see this year he has started to take on more roles in attack. He swung to the right side as a link man pretty often and did more mid range kicking.

Ezra is a gun 6 and I don't think people aren't giving him credit its just a case of people wanting to make sure he stays being a gun 6. Milford wouldn't have stayed in the team with Madge as coach if him phoning it in at training like Benji said whereas Ezra made a mistake and got his shit together and as long as he stays on that path and stays injury free I think he is in for a big year! Milford had every chance to turn it all around after his off field incident and prove his doubters wrong and its like he just couldn't be bothered.

He got relentlessly booed at the Bulldogs away game last year, like I've never seen an individual player cop such directed and hostile heat from a crowd for 80 minutes, maybe Adam Goodes might be comparable, and how did he respond? He won us that game. He set up our first try to Karapani to stop the bleeding, set up Hoeter to go over for our second, then to top it off put Piaks over to win us the game.

Honestly I don't think you need be concerned. His career well could have been ended by the car incident, that is beyond doubt he's a very lucky boy to still even be playing, but I think he realizes that, and I have trust in Madge to gently keep reminding him of it.

Could be mistaken but I think what FoM is meaning is leave him as a gun 6, let's not try and change him into an organising 7 like Milf.

I definitely interpreted it differently. It read like he had lingering concerns about attitude issues in light of Milf's collapse into indifference after his off field troubles. From what I can recall, I don't think anyone has ever suggested to try and turn Ezra into a controlling half.

What I found interesting was the boos he got during the grand final presentation - and I would assume it was mostly Broncos fans left in the stadium.

But besides that, the dude has a great record for stepping up in grand finals so far!
