Something I found out the other night sitting in that Hot Box watching the Broncs get cooked by the premiers. Is that the Era of Hook is going to take a while to fix, watching that game. Watching Thaiday use his experience to be Lazy in defence, to catch a breather walking back onside and the smiling with penalties (mate you let your fucking team down put your hand up and make up for it). While the burgess boys probably 20kg heavier are sprinting back full pelt, literally no joke. It's the 1%ers that win you games, not cheap tricks that cost penalties or half breaks. To be fair its not just Sammy. The kick chase was poor in the opposition half, Milford adlib grubbers that had potential, not one chaser, hunt cross field kick perfect placement, no one chasing or at least not with any will. It makes our kicking game look poor.

I know people will say, hay look bennet has done nothing and hooks times over so you cant blame him. Well I will, Wayne said more in one presser about the Broncos ills then Hooks head in the sand "the bounce didn't go our way" bull shit. If Wayne sticks to his guns, he will beat these boys into a good team again. Glenn was the best I have seen him, why because he got a tap on the shoulder and a pull your fucking head in from his coach. Blair was good, Maranta improving (still not close to what we need), Reed still has his head up his arse along with Thaiday and Dodds. The new guys I expect to be underperforming, whitechurch can go to qld cup, gavet one more chance or Garbutt.

To end the post I think the Hook era has a lingering stink of complacency and entitlement. Wayne will methodically improve this side, watch this space some off contracts may not be renewed, dead wood needs cutting and the old dog may need to pull out the hatchet and hedge clippers.

Excuses for Bennett already coming out I see.

Thaiday was just as lazy and unfit under Bennett for the first 3+ years of his career btw.

I think there's a slight change in the team attitude but if you want to focus on one thing and claim it as proof go for it. I said previously that Sam came out different after half time, camera on him but no show boating. He had a relatively better half than the first but still lacked the go forward. Never saw Sam regretful under Hook that I can remember.

For me with Sam, its not his workload. He made around 30 tackles and 100+ metres. What I am talking about is the silly things, there was at least 6 points in the game he let us down. The 3 penalties, and at least 2 times at marker where he did not move and then the times where he walked back on side looking at the tackle, he only ran after the ball was played. Isaac Luke was all over that type of shit. Again Sammy was not the only one. The reason I am pointing him out is the same as Wayne, he should not be doing this with his experience level and implied leadership in the club.

Not a very nice thing to do is it, criticise and abuse a man who is not around to defend hisself. Hook gave hes all for the club over many a year and is still thought of like a father figure too many of the young guys who he has helped raise since they were young boys (e.g. hes under 20s players). He may be gone in a physical sense from the broncos, but hes spirit still lingers around the club and in the minds and hearts of many of the player. Have a bit more respect for the man next time if YOU dont mind :mad2:

Don't take it personally, Anthony.

I like Anthony Griffin, his a nice guy, he's influence is still at the club, his going to be remembered well into the future, he's memory lives on.

Let's get this thread back on topic. Clearly Reidy put a lot of thought into his post and I'd hate to see his thread derailed.

What we saw on Thursday was a team struggling to adjust to a new system. There were some positive signs but a couple of bad eggs ruined it (some of them weren't even apart of the Broncos squad under Hook...) and they weren't shown any mercy by the Rabbitohs.

I thought Glenn's performance was pretty typical. It was nothing like the one he produced in the WCC and he produced similar performances last year and in fact there were a few I considered better.

Griffinball ... Bennettball ... I am waiting for the big difference. Can't wait

I don't think Griffin is particularly a bad coach. I think his greatest downfall was his relationship with his younger players, the ones he brought through the under 20's, and those players took advantage of that player-coach relationship by getting too comfortable.

I think the best thing for Hook was to get away from that group of players. He should now serve an apprenticeship under a few different coaches, see how they operate, learn and pick up things along the way, see how things are done differently around different clubs, and then give coaching another shot. Some fresh ideas and methods at a new club, where he has no previous ties with the players may just be the best thing for him in terms of his coaching career.

I hope to see him coaching in the NRL again.

Sorry but this is becoming incredibly annoying so I just have to say it.

He's = He is
His = Possessive, belongs to him.

He forgot the keys in HIS car.
He's (He is) a great footballer.

Now I can sleep easier tonight.

Mate read my post, I actually never singled out Hook for anything but being the head coach of the era in which our players mentality went down the drain. If you don't like it that's fine, but having respect for someone doesn't mean you don't tell them when there wrong. So maybe you should have some respect for yourself and get your nose out of the brown.
