The Era of Hook

Mate read my post, I actually never singled out Hook for anything but being the head coach of the era in which our players mentality went down the drain. If you don't like it that's fine, but having respect for someone doesn't mean you don't tell them when there wrong. So maybe you should have some respect for yourself and get your nose out of the brown.

I owe you an apology fella. Your right, i took your posting the wrong way and had no right to over react the way i did. I probably got a bit over protective of Hook and to be honest, am still hurting a bit that his not around any more. Bein that time of the month didnt help either when i posted my initial reply to you hehe.

South Sydney had a lot of rough spots to iron out when Michael Maguire took over in 2012 ... has certainly been worth the wait for them.

Was flicking through the Big League season preview and there was a telling quote from Ben Barba in the Sharks section. He was talking about losing weight, regaining his speed etc and then said this:

"[Anthony] Griffin (former Broncos coach) didn't mind players being heavy, the heavier the better. The weight I was putting on was way too fast and it was quite tough playing fullback."

I can only go on what I see from the team and don't claim to have any insider knowledge but it seemed Griffin didn't mind anything really. Basically the players did whatever they want. No wonder they loved him. Unless there is a tell-all book from someone we will never know the whole story but it seems like the inmates were running the asylum at the back-end of the Griffin era.

I think the major problem was not instilling enough discipline in the playing group and not making tough decisions. He was tremendously loyal to certain players and that's an admirable quality but they did not repay that faith with quality performances.

No worries mate we all get heated from time to time. Especially when our heart is in something. I truly wish Hook the best as I do Bennet or anyone who coaches or plays for our beloved club. What I would like to see is our old professionalism come back, as at the moment its just not there which is really disappointing.

Has anyone else noticed that hook now writes articles for the Sydney morning Herald and brisbane times? Couldn't even jag a QCUP/NSW Cup coaching gig??? That's gotta hurt a bit

maybe he didn't want to move to CQ and take over the capras? (and I don't blame him for that either).

Please change name from FIH to something more suitable , yeah lol ? Maybe IrememberHook ? Hadfaithinhook ? Hook-Hooked ? HookedGoose ?AnthonysWife lol ?

FaithInHook is still relevant if you think of it retrospectively. And with lament. "So upset, I had FaithInHook and he sucked".

I gather Troy Lindsay is under huge pressure at Redcliffe. They are under performing massively. I reckon Hook would be a good fit for that job.

@badel_cmail: Former broncos star opens up about the culture of "lies and deceit" under former coach anthony griffin. Explosive story in cmail tomrow

Those Former stars that open up about shit tend to be players who go dropped for poor form and left or players who were never good enough for the top grade to begin with.

or maybe it will be someone like Hoffman, who couldn't get his preferred position and is still crying about it

I tend to agree. The concept of letting their football do the talking is a bit old fashioned these days.

Sounds like either Hoffman or Norman to me. "They promised that if I wished hard enough, and loved long enough, anything is possible".
