Figured I should start this thread up again so all the proper football (:P) fans can discuss their teams progress in the league and just English football in general.

Perhaps I should kick off the discussion and ask something that will be troubling me over the coming weeks, who do you think will be relegated?

Derby are as good as gawwwn and Fulham are knee deep too. A fulham miracle aside, the relegation battle is IMO between:

Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Wigan, Sunderland, Birmingham, Bolton and Reading

I am hoping Sunderland can survive the drop but we have some very tough games ahead, many of them away as well (we still havent won away yet this season  stupid Derby). Obviously out of all the teams I'd love to see Newcastle go down the most

Anyways...thoughts ?

Good for the EPL Man U and Arsenal both through this morning and Chelsea and Pool as good as there...when was the last time 4 teams from the same league played in the quarters? I remember when Barca lost the semi to Valencia, Valencia lost to Real in the final....so that is 3 of the last 4 from spain, could they get all 4 (draw depending obviously).

I backed Newcastle to go down last season ... wish I'd taken the same bet this time round

Yeah thanks for that NNN, fire the Wetspammers up for our game against them sunday after us having to back up from a UEFA Cup game in the morning vs PSV

All 4 pom teams through for the CL Quarters, draw 15th of March. Barca need to get Fenerbache after the loss of Messi for 6 weeks, well that would be favorable.

How funny...Man U knocked out of the FA Cup by Pompey. Rio Ferdinand has to try and save a penalty because Fergie subbed Van Der Sar at halftime for Kuczjak and he was sent off in the lead up to the penalty. That is brilliant.

Rio dived the right way at least. I feel sorry for the poor bugger.
Barnsley knocked out Chelsea  How good is that! Bout time we saw another FA cup final without one of the 'big four' in it

If Chelsea don't win the CL Grant is goorne, coz they are not going to win the league.

I reckon Grant is nothing special anyway. And I sincerely doubt Chelsea will win the CL. If Roman is smart he well try to get in Hiddink or Rijkaard for next season.

How anyone can feel sorry for that c*nt is beyond me.

I love Fernando Torres.

I don't. He should've saved it :D

And I agree with Ningas ... Torres is the dogs bollocks.

Yeah Torres is class personified you could put him in any side in any league and he would still score goals. They just need to get rid of Rafa's rotation policy and they might show some consistent form.

The rotation thing is a myth IMO

At one point he hadn't played the same side in consecutive matches in a very substantial period of time (the number doesn't come to mind). Great sides only change things when someone really needs a rest or there is an injury, he changes things from match to match despite how well or how poorly they play. It is impossible for them to win the league using the current structure as the side never gels from game to game and never builds momentum when they do win, when was the last great run of league wins for Liverpool, a cannot remember one for a long time.

Personally I think the selected players underperforming is more to blame for our inconsistent form than rotation.

Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea very very rarely play 2 games in a row with the same team. They're no different to us in that regard. Where they do differ though is the players they do bring in consistently perform where ours don't all the time.

I say I felt sorry for him cause he is a defender and he suddenly got forced into the keepers job under pressure. I can't imagine facing a penalty would be a pleasant experience if you were professional keeper, never mind a center half.
