I completely agree with every word of your post except for the first line.

It's almost like you took everything I'm thinking and typed it....but I still stand by the fact that bagging an under performing player, coach, game plan or recruitment is the right of any true fan and or member...and that sitting by idly thinking that everything at your club is awesome even when it is obvious that it's not, shows a lack of passion. It's obvious from your post you do not lack passion...so don't take my statement personally.

First off, apologies if I misunderstood you. I am not against criticism at all, as long as it's justified, and my impression was that your post went against that. All good and thanks for your clarification!

This is where I end up on the situation.

On one hand, our halves are indeed very ordinary, most halves in the competition are very ordinary and I don't think we're going to play the style of football I want to see us play while we continue to persist with Peter Wallace as our marquee half. I also believe I was completely justified to bag out Scott Prince's performance.

On the other, I feel like some fans have tunnel vision and blame all our problems on the halves. We could get absolutely smashed by 40 points and somehow it'd be Wallace's fault because he knocked on at the 60th minute when the side was down by 28 points.

I would still be happy with us keeping Wallace if we get a really good half to be honest. I am not happy with Macca and his poor service or with Hoffman at fullback. But fast service out of dummy can be coached easy as, surely he's in Macca's ear? If he doesn't do what the coach asks and still doing slow plays of the ball, then start Hunt or Baptiste there, that'll fix the problem up quickly. WHAT THE !@#$@34 IS THE COACH DOING?!??! Hahah, this post was not going to be a whinge at the coach or Macca, but as soon as I thought about it I started raging it up. Anyways, back on topic, happy to keep Wallace if we sign a really good half (none are available and I think out of all our halves options he is still the best choice). Let's try Hunt as a replacement for Prince and then look to sign some good up and coming halves so we can get rid of all of our current half options for the long term.

McCullough seems like he's in a cozy spot knowing that he'll never get replaced. His only "competition" is Hunt, and I don't think Griffin knows that anyone else exists outside of these 2.

well from what I've seen of Queensland cup, there's no threats to macca, hunt, Prince or Wallace. that's been the problem for ages. nobody is bashing down the door demanding selection.

Baptiste got a run during Macca's injury last year and he looked pretty good, I remember being reasonably impressed. Would love to see him being brought in to put real pressure on Macca - but not at the expense of Hunt, I still think he deserves a shot in the halves.

McCullough is overrated to the extent that he's not the marquee player the club tries to parade him around us but by the same token his service isn't as bad as what people make it out to be. The problem is consistensy. At times, he'll look sharp and get us absolutely rolling down field with simple plays that get the forwards over the advantage line before skipping out of dummy half to give Wallace time and space to create. Other times, he'll slowly poke his head out from dummy half, desperately searching for somebody and will then throw a poor ball to Wallace who has absolutely no room to achieve anything with.

What people never credit him on is his long distance kicking game which is pretty damn good and his defence which is among the best at the club.

There are times where I believe a Baptiste or Granville may suit Hook's style of play more as they play more direct but I don't think they're of the same calibre as McCullough either. In saying that, their form last year was good and they should have received more game time. Especially when the bench hooker position was available and Hook went with Capewell, the form player of the Queensland Cup, but not a dummy half specialist by any means.

No hooker passes off the ground anymore, they're not taught to do it. Engaging the markers is what it is all about. Those steps get the markers interested and then you pass it.

Halves don't have less time, that's why you run block plays and decoys around them. A hooker that passes off the ground would be easy for the defence.

Not when you are on the attack in the opposition 20. Every hooker is supposed to feed the halves the ball in attack there, and the quicker you do it the more time you give them.
