Thompson had no chemistry with Gus or Wal which really hindered his performance. To get a real gauge, you've got to see him commentate with Sattler as they've been a team for years now. He's OK but does get a little side-tracked and opinionated which shouldn't be a play by play person's job.
For the most part, I've learned it's better to just mute the sound when I'm watching replays. One less distraction to think about and I can get a better feel of the game.
