Tim Sheens Resigns

Tim Sheens is a bigger Myth than Climate change and God combined.. :rash:

It is because you are wrong.. :haha:

I'm not jizzing over anything. Just putting my opinion forward. Why is it that this forum can never speak positively about ANY other team other than their own? And even then it seems like a struggle. (unless it's the Cowboys of 2005-2008, talk about jizzing over a team other than your own..)

While I don't really agree with you here about the Tigers I get what you are saying. There is a decent contingent on here that can't seem to handle it when you say something positive about a non Bronco.

People seem to think that Sheens has had the best team ever or something. Seriously, he's had to try and build a team around Farah and Marshall, and only in the last 2 years he's started to really get somewhere. I mean, they've had a pretty average looking pack of the years, it's only in the last 2 years where guys like Galloway and Heighington have come into their own. They had to buy Ellis which was an awesome buy. Simon Dwyer was a kid through the ranks who was no doubt going to become amazing, what an absolute shame we probably won't ever see him again. Fulton returned and somehow he stepped up and useful. Bryce Gibbs is still #### though.

Their backline has been very shaky and has had no stability in it at all. They have forever interchanged Fullbacks, they lost Tuiaki to retirement, lost Chris Lawrence for most of this year and had to backfill it with average guys like Brown and Utai, the bought Lote Tuqiri due to their poor depth on the wings and even then Tuqiri hasn't exactly set the world on fire. They bought Utai this year for god knows what reason, probably because they still lacked any real depth in the backline. Blake Ayshford has been the shining star though, this is a great example of producing a good player and putting the work into someone.

They have had one of the most disrupted rosters I've ever seen in rugby league.

Based on that, Sheens has done a great job. Never really had the best players, never had the stability in the team due to injuries but somehow managed to always make his team competitive.

He's still had a good squad at his disposal yet it took him 5 years to reach another final. Sure, the likes of Benji struggled with injuries, but that doesn't excuse some of the seasons where they had a fit roster yet couldn't seem to win games when they were on the line and he's to be blamed for a lot of it.

Why?

Have you seen some of his selections?

Backrows as prop forwards
(Ordinary) Hookers as Halfbacks
Wingers on the bench, playing an average of 5 minutes. And we're not talking some impact player like Barba. We're talking players like Fitzhenry and Brown (such an apt name for a player of his ability)
And just poor management in general with his juniors. (eg. Bronson Harrison, Ben Te'o etc.)

I don't buy him having recruitment trouble either. He signed up the likes of Ryan O'Hara (a NSW rep. at a time where it actually meant something), Jamal Lolesi (a promising NZ backline rep. who he decided to turn into a backrow) and the promising Keith Galloway. Combined with an impressive array of junior talent (Taniela Tuiaki, Chris Lawrence, Isaac De Gois, Rangi Chase, Ben Te'o etc. etc.) really, he boasted a side that looked far more impressive than some of the teams that did make the finals in some of the years the Tigers missed yet Sheens for the longest time failed to find any stability.

That was until he got Ellis and Folkes on board. Folkes to me is the unsung hero of the Tigers in the past two seasons. Ever since he's been on board, the forwards have discovered some starch and are more than halfbacks wannabes. His work in particular with a player like say Bryce Gibbs who I think you've severely underated has been first class and now Gibbs is one of the best defensive players in the game. They truly missed his work last night, the Tigers ruck was weak and it made for a low quality (but entertaining) final.

I know a few Tigers fans, and they all hate Sheens.

Ryan O'Hara...man I'd forgotten how far he plummeted when he was with the Tigers!
