The only reason there is a Hysteria over it is because manly lost by 1 point and Hasler has to blame someone else for his teams inept display..as i said before TOUGH SHIT MANLY

Having just watched the post game of Knights Cowbs - I was impressed by Smith not trying to blame anyone else for his teams loss and gave praise to the effort of the Cowbs. How about hassler accepting that his team should have won but couldn't score the points - that had nothing to do with the ref's decision - it should have been sown up by manly well before the 78th minute.

It was a petty display by a petty man - to call the refs unprofessional is just rude, what's unprofessional is blaming everyone else for deficiencies in your team. It was a 50/50 call, I can see the ref's point of view and he had the guts to call it as he saw it and I hope he keeps it up, these sorts of calls are part of the game.

What's terrible is that Presto was on the news tonight saying he felt his victory was hollow - how the media has blown a call, the sort that always happens in NRL, out of proportion.

Hassler is just bitter - period. He lets on that the whole world is against his team. He's trying to hold on to the siege mentality which took Manly to the premiership last year. Give it up Des. It's very very boring.

Kudos to the ref for backing himself and making a tough call at a crucial stage of a game. Refs are criticised for putting the whistle in their pockets at the end of tight games and in golden point. The ref thought he saw foul play and subsequently blew the penalty. Watching the replays, you can see how he could have made that interpretation. Everything will even itself out by the end of the year. Manly got some fortunate calls to beat us just we got some fortunate calls to beat the storm and the titans got some fortunate calls to beat Manly.

Actually, Smith's reaction and performance in that conference really blew me away. I saw a totally different side to him that I had not seen before. As ddd said, he was fully accepting of Newcastle simply being blown away by the better side. No blaming refs or anyone else, and he was so relaxed.
