Surely everyone's seen it now. Manly lead 17-16 with 2 minutes to go, Campbell grubbers ahead, goes in to get the ball, Orford dives in, knocks Campbell out of the way then lands on the loose ball.
Tough call? Yeah. Wrong call? Technically no.
The way Cecchin has ruled it is that Orford went in with the intent of bumping Campbell off the ball, and THEN dived on it. He ruled Orford wasn't challenging for the football.
You can argue that that's wrong, but that's how he's ruled.
The more I look at it, the more I agree. Orford leads with his hip/arse/legs. You can't catch a ball with those body parts. It's only after he's bumped off Campbell that he dives on the ball.
Correct decision, and no amount of Hasler whinging will change it.
