Todd Carney - lol.

Yeh I see what you mean about no longer being a professional league player, but, this is supposed to be his penance for past indiscretions having to do what he is doing this year. Plus, he has allegedly signed a big money contract to play with the Chooks next year, so given those two facts, don't you think that there would be an incentive for him to try and stay out of the news?

Yes, they have been charged, but what they have been charged with raises some questions for me. They have not been charged with common assault or assault occasioning bodily harm which is what you would expect when someone is bashed in the street. They have been charged with public nuisance, a less serious charge. It makes me wonder whether there were concerns about a provocation defence getting up to an assault charge.

He was with his sister and he was approached by four guys, do you seriously think any guy is stupid enough to provoke 4 guys when he's buy himself?
lol, I can't stand the grub personally, but I don't think he really did anything wrong, and ffs, he's playing park footy he doesn't have to be a role model.. lol If he's serious however about making a return in the nrl (You'd think after everything in the media this year, no club would be stupid enough to sign him) then he will need to stop drinking all together.

The Sydney Roosters gave him a lifeline. Sort yourself out, look after yourself, work hard, play some park footy and the dollars and the big stage will return.

Yes, he is a victim here. But does anyone really believe that he was out at 3am on his way to church, or feeding the homeless?

Sometimes, to keep yourself safe, you should not put yourself in dangerous situations. And alone, on a street, at 3am.... clearly the kid has a farking huge problem. I hope he walks away from the drink, and football itself. Rehab, counselling and AA is the way for him to go - he's only young and could seriously f*ck up the rest of his life if he continues like this.

His criminal record between the hours of 7am and 6pm is clean as a whistle. I wonder why that's not the case with those night hours...

Yeah, you do have a good point, it's not smart to be out at those hours of the night especially while drinking.I just don't think he did anything wrong here.

You're right, he didn't do anything WRONG here.

He did, however, did something STUPID here.

Again, the lifeline was there, but it's doubtful that will be the case now. After everything he's been through, he was bloody lucky for the Roosters to give him one in the first place. To think that all of that money and security on offer couldn't help him stay out of the pubs, off the streets in the wee hours of the morning and off the drink... well, that to me is just terribly sad. Hope he gets some help, but he seems a lost cause.

Mick: apparently unless something is wrong (and by wrong that's illegal) there's no consequences.

He was out with his sister? So obviously he was putting in effort to stay out of trouble, you know go with a family member who can take care of you if you go drinking in case you go drunk, etc there's no suggestion he provoked the guys. If he was out on his own I'd agree, but being with his sister tells me he's making an effort to not get into trouble.

How old is he?

At what age does someone stop holding your hand?
Weren't they suggesting that when player groups go out they should take someone with them, manager / family member etc? even on the government website fro drinking on the best way to stay out of trouble part it says take a family member with you. To me he was bashed by four people who he did not provoke and he took out his sister with him for a night out and did nothing wrong. This incident shouldn't affect his chances of getting a contract at the roosters.

Of course it should.

Jesus, he clearly has an issue with alcohol. It doesn't matter that he didn't do anything wrong in this instance, but with all the trouble he has caused himself, the last palce he should be at 3am is out and about on the street.

If he was serious about getting back into the NRL, he would be in bed, being a good boy.

I don't want scum like him in the game, he's bought the game into disrepute too many times.

I don't want him in the game either but if he had a chance before then he probably still does but the way the nrl is trying to change it's image, he could very well be refused registration at nrl level anyway.

And so he should be. How many chances did the NRL give him? Then what happened when he first moved to the Roosters? He was straight in the headlines for his drunk behaviour.

He's a clown, and deserves de-registration. If he was serious about footy, he would have cleaned his act up months ago.

Harsh, but true. I think unless some of these nuff nuffs have really serious consequences forced upon them, they are not going to get the message.

Personally, I'm of the opinion the nrl should not allow Carney back in the nrl at all. I'm pretty sure legally they'd have no case to answer, it is their competition so they are allowed to decide who can play right?

A very hard lesson needs to be given here, if you **** up you can't go to england and you can't play nrl any more, go back to park footy and 40hour a week shit paying job like everyone else.

Again, mate, i said nothing about him TRYING to get himself into trouble.

Seriously, I could walk down an Atherton road at 3am with the farking POPE holding my hand, and it still wouldn't be safe.

"Hang on mate, I'll be back to finish this post later. My dad and I are going to pack some knives, spray cans and explosives into a bag, head out to a strip club, get blind and look to chrome at about 2am or so. Think there are some nice deserted parks in New Farm we could use. Don't worry, though - I'm taking my dad. No trouble can come of that."
