That's right ladies and gentlemen, Ben Hunt, Matt Gillett & Adam Blair are not in the top 50 players in the NRL at the moment. And Milford and Parker aren't as good as Matt Moylan.

Re: NRL General Discussion Thread

Serious question here. What the **** is wrong with Rothfield?

Is he stupid? As in does he actually watch league and think that this kind of shit is real?

Or does he just say clearly wrong things to create controversary hoping that that controversary translates into paper sales?

Re: NRL General Discussion Thread

He said hunt isn't in it because of the last few minutes of the gf

Re: NRL General Discussion Thread

Rothfield & Hadley share a shoebox full of photos of media hierarchy in compromising positions. There is no other logical conclusion.

Without being ridiculous it has to be something like this. There can be no other explanation for how he could be the 'editor at large' when just about every other journalist is more knowledgable than him.

I imagine it's something like the fulcrum from 'The Blacklist'

Re: NRL General Discussion Thread

You have to be kidding.

Yeah he also said he couldn't handle the pressure. What about extra time against the roosters, setting up the match winning try against the panthers? So aren't they pressured situations

He's a fucking gibberer. One of the best days in sports journalism will be the day he ***** off.

Meanwhile if Ben Hunt joined the Sharks he would be the best halfback in the world and only an idiot would suggest the final minutes of the GF would shape a person. Look at the cowards about turn on Maloney and Carney before him.

Re: NRL General Discussion Thread

Compare the stats of Milford and Ferguson. How the hell does Blake rank higher?

Someone should tell him that its closer than what Bird, Holmes & Gallen will ever get

Re: NRL General Discussion Thread

Also, Jason Taumalolo, now there my friends is a player waaaaaaaaaaay overrated.

Developed by the Sharks...

This. He and CP should be in switched positions on that list.

Sam Burgess having had a year off is still apparently the 4th best player in the league. Slothfield creates these lists purely to get a reaction on his blog. I'd be surprised if this is his actual top 50, I doubt he can count that high.

Corey Parker number 19?Get fucked. Poor old Phil still hasn't figured out we use articles like that one for motivation.

It probably took Phil all of two hours to put that list together and yet it'll generate more hits and discussion than a lot of his other pieces. Of course the list itself is trash, but it is an interesting conversation starter and makes for some interesting Top 50s.

Comparing it to 2014/2015..

While Burgess took his game to another level in 2014, before then he wasn't even a Top 10 player in Rothfield's eyes. Despite taking a year off, somehow Burgess has rocketed into the Top 5.

Despite having his worse season in years, Foran somehow climbed the ladder. From 16th in 2014, to 10th in 2015 all the way to 9th in 2016.

Here's the kicker, after his rookie season Milford was apparently the 18th best player in the game, he had something of a sophmore slump, falling to 20th and really had a terrible year falling to 23.

Plus many more.

Ben Hunt, Anthony Milford, Michael Morgan, Aaron Woods, James Maloney and Michael Ennis would all be in my Top 20.

Dylan Napa must be the most overrated footballer going around. How is he in a top 50 players in the NRL? He'd be flat out being the top 50 of forwards in the NRL. That is a shocking list.

Cronk should be number 3 easily. That article is an obvious shitpost from Rothfield to generate discussion.

He might not be top 50 players yet but I don't think Napa is overrated at all. He's definitely one of the best young props in the game.
