THE Broncos have been told in no uncertain terms where they need to improve when they face Souths Logan Magpies in a trial in Brisbane this Saturday night.
With the main squad away in England for the World Club Series, a second-tier team took apart Wynnum Seagulls 20-0 last Friday.
Led by forwards Salesi Funaki and Joe Boyce, the Broncos put on a steely defensive performance against the Seagulls to keep their goal line intact.
But the match was nil-all for a long period after the Broncos made some silly errors with the ball.
That will be the focus for this group, who are trying to prove they deserve a shot at the top grade.
"If you want to play at the next level, you have to get rid of silly mistakes," said Kurt Richards, who is in charge with the senior coaching staff in England.
"We are talking about things like correct play the balls, contact and bad passes.
"To impress this week we need the same defensive effort as the last game, but with much better execution in attack."
Winger Elijah Alick will make a long-awaited return to the field from a knee reconstruction, while Alex Barr shifts from the centres to his favoured position of second row.
Barr will pack down alongside Brett Greinke, while off-season recruit from the Tigers, Marion Seve, moves into the centres.
The match will start at 6pm at Davies Park, with the under 20s to kick off in a trial against the Titans at 4pm.

Timu dropped, Alick back from injury, Barr back to the pack, Scarlett and Nicholls swap, Greinke back, Su'A back to 20's.

That's a strong side.

Why was Su'A put back to 20's?

Not that it matters much, but wasn't there a late change last week that saw Timu come off the bench?

Greinke may have been a late addition as well...

Yeah I am pretty sure Timu came off the bench.

I thought Timu had a good game, surprised he has been dropped.

Maybe seen enough from Timu to let him come off bench. He was strong last week. He will get on early i reckon. Grienke and Barr maybe more to prove.

Timu started on bench last week. Looks like 20s back to own team (hipgrave sua fai) They got titans so maybe good to have their strongest side have a run together.

Does anyone know if this one is being streamed? And/or is abc grandstand commentating it like the other trial?

4-0 early in the first half to the Broncos. Only got that from the Magpies twitter.

Under 20's went to the Broncos 46 - 6 over the Titans at Davies Park

timu with nice footwork slides through and scores. he is a big unit and will push hard for a top grade spot sooner rather than later

Nice.

From the sounds of things he's a little off the pace for first grade but from what I've seen he's showing a lot of promise.

Certainly seems to be doing all the right things to get back in the groove, considering his time out as a missionary.

he is a definite top liner, looking at the first half murphy has been really good, timu has been dangerous every time he has touched it and molo looks like he has turned his xmas pud around and is really back in shape with some nice carries and heavy defence too
