Two coaches sacked in 2026 ... Who's next?

Glad they're doing it now, instead of the week before they play us lol

We play them after origin and after the bye so should have only a couple backing up and have Haas, Walsh, Anderson? and Hunt back.

I heard Flanagan say last week that the club couldn't/didn't plan for when your halfback walks out on you.

When your 35 yr old halfback walks out on you... after you had to convince him to stay 12 months earlier.

They knew the writing was on the wall with Bhunt, but even then they should've been planning for his replacement when they gave him the 2yr extension at the end of his 4yr deal.

I liked Hunt's response to this.

When asked about Flanagan’s opinion that his exit was a central reason for the Dragons’ poor and imbalanced roster now, Hunt replied via a text message: “I thought I was too old and had bad habits.”

I had been thinking recently how this has all vindicated Hunt's performances for them. There were a lot of fans blaming him for their poor performances, but in reality he was dragging an otherwise spoon side towards something close to competitive.

Dragons chairman seems to be trying to turn a bit of this back on the media coverage.. The guy claims to know ‘more than most’ about the way media works - mate, blaming the media for in any way shape or form for the plight of your club is not the play of someone who knows media inside out

Flanno has mates in the media... if anything they wouldve been running protection for him

Watsford said last year that Flanagan's re-signing was evidence of the club's commitment to "building a sustainable future", rather than focusing on short-term goals.

"The Dragons are proud of the progress that is being made and remain focused on continuing the journey toward consistent finals contention, driven by a committed group of players, staff, and loyal supporters," he said.

"This is an exciting era for the Red V; one built on resilience, local pride, and an unwavering belief in the future."

The extension came days after the Dragons beat ladder leaders Canberra. The team beat similarly finals-bound Cronulla a day later, but then started an 11-game losing streak that is yet to end.

They wrapped up last year with four straight losses, three times conceding 40 points, as Flanagan's side slipped to 15th on the ladder to continue a run of seven straight years missing the finals.

Ooooof.

That was hard to watch, that is a bloke who clearly is way out of his depth. We haven't been good enough but we have been good enough. It is unfair to report us as not being good enough even though we haven't been good enough but we have been good enough. Its unfair, its the media's fault. We've all done a great job, our people have done a great job, that's why we're here, we've all done a great job, its the media's fault, they've done a poor job.

Yeah, thanks everyone.

The kid they had as his successor (Junior Amone) got kicked out of the NRL for GBH .
That threw a spanner in the works along with Hunt leaving .
Then this year they bought a #6 and tried to shoe horn him into #7 .
Not the same . Bit like Pezet playing #6 when next year they want him to play #7 not apples and apples .

Amone was a running half though... that's not really planning for replacement of your game managing half.

King-Tongia is also a running half.

Flanagan isn't a first grader

Atkinson could be a 7... he kicked the game winning field goal vs storm in melb 2yr back when sharks didnt have Trindall or Nicho.. so he's at least got something to start with, but the way dargons play is so boring and predictable... makes me think that they have to stay within the structures and everything looks like a training run.

Oh boy, it’s a disaster.
That chairman though, makes me think if all of the other chairman’s including ours are all dipshits who blame others for everything that has gone wrong except owning theirs.

Anyways, irrespective of who ends up being their coach, Dragqueens would take a min of 2+ years to be a competitive again.

Ok, 2 down and my bet next is on Cowgirls to sack their coach next.

That idiot can say mutual agreement as many times as he wants to avoid answering a question about the decision for Flanagan to move on ... but every single person watching or listening to that know exactly what mutual agreement means

The only mutual part is whatever they are paying Flanagan to be sacked haha
