With McGuire, Gavet injured, Garbutt off to Leeds and Molo dealing with his situation should Bennett move Vidot to prop forward?

Vidot made the most metres of any Bronco last season and plays there for the Ipswich Jets. It maybe the lifeline he needs to extend his career at the Broncos.

Would you make the move and who would you have replace him on the wing?

Why not try it, not against the Dogs but the round after when everyone is back on board except McGuire?

Long-winded explanation later.

Surely the need to move Vidot into prop is not required with Wallace, Dodds, Blair, Thaiday, Parker, Joe O, and Molo is not there? Add to the fact we have countless feeder clubs full of props. Molo may not be ready to step up just yet, but you'd think he would be at some stage this year.

If a single prop going down ends our season or means we have to resort to having a winger play prop then we are in trouble.

Yes we are going to need others to step up and fill the void. Thaiday has shown he can play with aggression against the Roosters up front, and I think he will be called on to do just that.

Vidot to prop screams of no faith and over reaction to me.

I can't see any harm in trying it. The skeptic in me says that he won't be able to make those same metres in the middle, but who knows?I like Vidot and prefer him to extend his stay here but as far as wing goes he is no longer in a fully fit team in that position. If he is able to contribute elsewhere then maybe he can be useful in years to come. This probably won't happen but I would love to seem him tried at prop coming off the bench and if it clearly isn't working then he can move into the backrow for the rest of that game (with Thaiday shifting to prop) and write the whole thing off as a bad joke.

All very fair points.

Here is an idea, it's right out of the box and completely random....

How about we show some faith in the guys Bennett and the Broncos have at the club to play prop and give them a chance before we throw them to the wolves and call for a winger to replace them? I mean it's not like 3 of our top 4 props are injured, it's 1 prop, yes he is our best, but he is still just 1 prop in the rotation where we have 6/7 other blokes still fit enough to play.

I would say it becomes a question of who your first choice wingers are. If we're forced to subtract McGuire's production through the middle, I'd rather replace him with Thaiday in the starting lineup and a rotation of Wallace and Dodds off the bench, and leave Vidot as first choice on one of the wings to come in and make metres when required. As much as I like Kahu and Maranta, neither can churn out the metres like Vidot can, and I think with a depleted pack he's more valuable than either of them in that position.

No, absolutely not.

1- Vidot's energy and meters come on the back of little defensive work on the wing, which would be a massive change if he was playing in the ruck continuously.

2- Vidot's defensive flaws would get found out pretty quick in the forwards. Our defensive style cannot carry such a liability in its middle.

Nah, we've already got our starting props, Blair & Thaiday. Which means Vidot would have to be an impact bench prop, I'd rather those 2 spots to go to people who might actually be in our future plans (Wallace, Dodds, Molo, Ofahengaue, other U20 Props)

Pretty much this.

As I see it, our game is built fundamentally around props who can defend out of their skins 1st, pass the ball 2nd and make metres 3rd. Blair and Thaiday are ideal there, and Dodds and Wallace come next.

For mine, I have questions about Vidot in both departments - consistent, effective defence and his passing game, despite posting a number of times that I think he would be ok as a prop. Now I am not so sure.

As for wingers, my pecking order is Oates, Kahu and Maranta before Vidot. Oates makes both metres, defends really well, is quick and scores a lot of tries. I'd keep Vidot on the wing when none of these 3 are able to play there, and keep him away from the middle.

Few things to consider, he didn't really play prop for the Jets, he came off the bench and played in the middle but given the Jets' structure that doesn't mean much.

His tackle count was never high when he did do it; 11 missed 1, 13 missed 2, 11 missed 2, 12 missed 0, 1 missed 0, 2 missed 1.

Being in the ruck for an NRL game would mean 25 plus tackles.

His runs would suffer because of that and he wouldn't be running at one or two chasers anymore he would be running at a set line of other 110kg players.

Not saying it can't be done, but his time and Jets and his runs on the wing can't really be used to say it if would work.

Question is would he wear head gear like Wendell did when he was called on to do it?

From memory headgear Wendel had a good game, even a couple of offloads. He played secondrow from memory.

Oh and on Vidot, I would like to see him make the change but maybe its to late in the year and would need a solid preseason. I just doubt his fitness, maybe of the bench he could do a job for us. If he knuckled down and got some aggression with his speed the man could be very damaging in the middle. I could see him being as effective as Price or Petro, very similar no shit carting of the ball.

I'd probably play him in the second row, and move him to the front row during the game.
