This. Although I don't think it'd be great. You'd have shit all talent in the lower tier. It'd be like QLD Cup standard. And the FA Cup style games would be an annihilation.

I doubt it. An understrength Broncos during origin vs. Cronulla Sharks would be competitive. The cream of the Premier League would be playing in State of Origin, paving the way for competitive match ups against lower league teams in a cup tournament.

Maybe the winner of the Cup would be promoted along with the top two from the league
